Sam Hahn is the co-founder of L.A.B. Golf, one of the most disruptive and innovative putter companies in the golf industry. With an unconventional background in music, nightlife, and entrepreneurship, Hahn took an equally unconventional path into golf equipment—one that ultimately helped transform a little-known putting technology into one of the most talked-about innovations in the game.
A self-described “putter psycho,” Hahn discovered the technology that would eventually become L.A.B. Golf while searching for a solution to his own putting struggles. After trying a putter created by inventor Bill Presse, Hahn became convinced that Presse’s Lie Angle Balance technology offered something fundamentally different. When Presse’s original company, Directed Force, struggled to survive, Hahn partnered with him in 2018, helped acquire the business, and relaunched it as L.A.B. Golf — Lie Angle Balance.
Under Hahn’s leadership, L.A.B. Golf grew from a niche operation into a major force in the premium putter market. Its technology is designed to reduce the torque that causes a putter face to open and close during the stroke, allowing the putter to naturally stay square to its intended path. What initially looked radically different from traditional putters gradually gained a devoted following among recreational golfers and some of the best players in the world.
Known for his candid personality, deep passion for golf equipment, and willingness to challenge conventional thinking, Hahn has played a central role in turning L.A.B. Golf into a brand synonymous with putting innovation. The company’s rise reached another level when J.J. Spaun won the 2025 U.S. Open using a L.A.B. Golf putter, providing one of the biggest moments yet for a technology Hahn had spent years championing.
