Happy Monday Golfers;
This week’s blog topic is about, “Games To Play On The Course.”
Time is often a constraint when it comes to practicing our golf, so when we get the opportunity, we often head straight to the course. But how can we get more from our practice if we prefer to play on the course rather than hit the range?

The great thing about these games is that you can play them both on and off the course, and they are measurable. I encourage you to play these games more on the course, as it’s where we actually play the game and encounter many more of the behavioural and environmental factors.

180 Feet In The Bank
This game focuses on your approach play from the yardages you would use your wedges. For example, you could play from distances between 50 and 120 yards. Play an extra ball on each hole from these wedge yardages, alternating between fairway and rough from hole to hole. The aim of the game is to help improve your proximity to the hole. Each approach shot is deducted from your footage in the bank, so if you hit it to 15 feet on the first hole, you will have 165 feet left in the bank. If you hole the putt, you don’t lose any footage.
It’s a great way to gather some statistics within this part of your game, and it is measurable and can be done in practice play, practice rounds, or on the short game area. I recommend using a randomizing app for your chosen distances and spinning it on each hole to determine the yardage. Spin again if it’s close to the previous yardage.
