For golfers planning a round in the valley, Matt’s experiences at TPC Summerlin and Revere’s Lexington course offer two very different snapshots. At Summerlin, he found firm fairways, fast greens, and conditions that rewarded thoughtful approach shots. Landing the ball short and allowing it to release became part of the challenge. His verdict: the course made a strong impression.
Lexington’s reopening brought a more mixed response. Matt praised the new Bermuda turf in several areas but felt the course needed more time before welcoming golfers back. Soft greens, uneven recovery, and cart-path-only restrictions affected the round. The discussion highlights why recent player reports can help golfers understand what to expect during overseeding and renovation recovery.
That is also the thinking behind the podcast’s community course-reporting feature. Golfers can share Las Vegas golf course conditions, create profiles, and add what’s in their bags. The hosts also introduce a way to submit questions outside the live broadcast, giving listeners another route into the conversation.
The episode’s biggest debate moves from local fairways to international team golf. Does the Presidents Cup still deliver the excitement fans expect? Matt questions its place on the calendar, while the group discusses alternate-shot struggles, comparisons with the Ryder Cup, and broadcast interruptions. Medinah’s redesign adds another talking point to the discussion.
There is plenty of everyday golf mixed in, too. Matt recounts a seven-wood approach that nearly produced a hole-in-one and shares how Rose & Fire responded to a headcover issue. The crew also discusses Bryson DeChambeau’s backyard challenges and the appeal of short, entertaining golf videos.
As the Vegas Golf Network approaches its final events, the hosts look ahead to future Chasing Daylight gatherings. Matt outlines plans to give registered community members early access to event sign-ups, making the website an increasingly important part of the show’s next chapter.
Four hundred episodes in, the conversation still comes back to playing golf, sharing honest experiences, and connecting with other golfers. Listen to episode 400, then join the free Chasing Daylight community to submit a course report or send the hosts your next question.
Celebrating Episode 400
Matt 0:25
What is up, everybody? Welcome to the Chasing Daylight Podcast. If you are tuning in to this show, thank you so much for being here. This is number four hundred, which is my body. I know that’s not in my perspective. Uh, it’s it’s been one hell of a journey. Uh, we’ve been doing this for quite a while now, and you know, we like these milestone episodes. Joe likes them so much, he’s like, fuck it, I’m not gonna be here. So you’ll you’ll it’ll be a little quieter tonight. Joe’s not here. You won’t be hearing the the keys wheeze very much. Uh he’s on his way back from Baltimore with the family. Uh Trey was gonna join us. He just competed in the mid-am, um, but he got around at Aaron Hills today, so that was a hell of a reason to stick around a little bit longer.
Dan 1:24
Absolutely.
Matt 1:25
Yeah, we got Vic. Vic is in the house. Thanks so much for being here. Vic.
Dan 1:29
The Sanchise.
Matt 1:31
The dude is here, dude here, dude. What’s up, guys? Congrats on the milestone. Thank you so much. We we are getting there. Thanks, Trace. Appreciate it. Tracy, I don’t know if you can see T Dog. I got the bag back here. It’s back here.
Jeremy 1:50
Hooking the bag up. That bag is pretty sweet looking.
Matt 1:54
I want to game it so bad, but I don’t want to game it, so we’ll see. We’ll see.
Jeremy 1:59
Stay strong.
Matt 2:00
If I get behind on the comments, just you know, shout out. I’ll take the comments.
Jeremy 2:05
I’ll take Joe’s. You got some comments? Yeah, I got it.
Matt 2:07
Thanks. Look at it, Jerry stepping up. Yep, stepping up. Uh, so tonight we’re giving away this bag over here. On oh, nobody can see it on the wide format. Let me just swap that real quick. There it is. We got this bag we’re giving away tonight. This is the one finally, finally giving away, getting rid of it. It’s getting out of here. It’s a brand new bag. We’ve got uh, I got the wheel of names up. We got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight people who entered. Massive, massive amount of people entered this giveaway. Um, it’s you know, not everybody needs a bag. So thank you for not, you know, uh willing to accept something that you’re just gonna get rid of. Uh, we had a deal where show us your bag, and we were if we got enough people to do it, we were gonna do a uh bracket and have people vote, but no, didn’t happen, so we’re just gonna give it away tonight. So we’ll do that here in a little bit. I know everybody doesn’t want to hang around to the end for that, but uh we’ll get to it eventually. Um, how you guys doing?
Dan 3:16
Doing well, you know, pretty good. Yeah, feels like it.
TPC Summerlin: Firm, Fast & Impressive
Matt 3:20
I I played a lot last week because uh we played Monday, and then I played Wednesday, and then I played Saturday, and uh yeah, I was wiped. I was absolutely wiped.
Jeremy 3:34
Where did you play Saturday?
Matt 3:36
TPC Summerlin.
Jeremy 3:37
Okay, oh we only played.
Matt 3:40
We only got nine holes in. Um let me tell you, that course right now is really, really good. Like, really good. The big Matt was out there, his his company just joined there, and so he’s spending a lot of time there, you know, getting his what he does out there. There was a lot of the UNLB kids out there, which they just announced today that they are now uh it’s the official home. TBC Summerlin is the official home. Um, Blake, one of our uh guys that used to work out at Revere, is now one of the assistants there. So it was great connecting with him again. Scott Pearcy was out there. We met uh Isaiah, who is a member of the he’s on the corner tour and he’s playing in Utah this weekend. Um, dude just absolutely stripes the ball, just stripes it. I was I was sending a text message to these guys. I’m like, yeah, you know, he had 185 ball speed, 320 carry just on a rope, and he’s 380 in the world. It’s like you know how good these guys are.
Dan 4:44
It’s a different level, it’s a different level for sure.
Matt 4:46
Insane. Like, you know, there’s a few guys that we play with that hit the ball really well, you know, but the it was like I’m gonna hit it right there with a little fade, boom. I’m gonna hit right here, a little drop, boom, just flawless execution. It’s like he needs 380. It’s like good God. Yeah.
Jeremy 5:05
I mean, you’ve looked, we’ve looked at stats before of like the top X number of players, and it’s so close. Like the stat, the putting stats, the ball striking stacks, everything. It’s just it’s crazy how they are all bunched together so closely, and they can be there can be that many of them.
Matt 5:22
Yeah.
Jeremy 5:23
Even the top amateurs.
Matt 5:25
Teal’s asking how trade he did all right. Um, didn’t have the outings I think he wanted, of course, because he didn’t make it a match play, but it was a hell of a learning experience and a hell of an experience. Um, he’s giddy about everything, and um, you know, we’ll have a month soon to talk about it for sure. Super excited to hear what he had to say because uh yeah, it was it’s quite an experience.
Dan 5:49
So and it’s and he’s knocking out some sick golf while he’s out there.
Matt 5:53
Yeah, Sand Valley, Leto, Mammoth Dunes, and Aaron Hills. That’s that’s a week.
Dan 5:59
Quite the lineup, it’s a very good lineup. That is a week.
Matt 6:04
Chris Acosta is in the house. Thanks, Chris, for being here. He’s in the Gibby. He’s in the Gibby.
Dan 6:10
Yes, he is. Good luck, Chris.
Matt 6:12
Um, we also give shit away every week, and so this week, you know, I went digging in the closet to see what I could find. Um, I got a I got a large gray chasing daylight podcast t-shirt. We’re gonna give that away to somebody tonight. Okay, there’s some larges out there. I also found a box of Chrome soft 26 triple track. This is the proto box before they were released, so um, it’s beat up and everything, but the balls are all in here, they’re all never been played. Chrome soft. So we’re gonna give that away, and then of course, the bag behind me. So a couple extra things on the on the show tonight, and you know what? I may give away a podcast grip too. You never know. We’ll see. State that we’ll see. So to get in the giveaway, not the bag, but the other stuff, I gotta do is leave a comment. Leave a comment and interact with us, the dude right here. In in the giveaway, that’s all you gotta do. Um, thank you again so much for being here this evening. Yeah, so TBC Summerlin, it’s it’s a dormant golf course, they don’t overseat, they let it go dormant, they paint the fairways, but it was it was firm, it was fast. They had recently punched the greens like a uh a micro punch, and my god, they were rolling at like 11. It was it was I’m like, this ain’t revere. Revere was not even close to that, and just I mean, it was it was beautiful, it was absolutely beautiful. I was so impressed. Uh, it was weird. It felt like you were playing Bannon almost, where you have to leave your approach shot short and let it release back to the hole. Because if you go at the pin, I mean the greens were firm, they were receptive, but not anywhere near you know the the soft conditions of some of the other courts down right now. So it was it was it was good to see. It was good to see.
Dan 8:09
Yeah, Summerlin’s fun, man. I’ve I’ve played there about five or six times, and uh it’s I’ve never like not had a great time, you know what I mean?
Matt 8:18
It’s it’s a it’s a it’s a fun guy, it’s a hard the front nine, I think, is really difficult on some of the holes. You got the the second hole, which if you don’t know how to play that second hole, you’re in the desert. Yeah, the the third hole, the tour plays it at a par four, it’s it’s a par five. Um, you know, if if you don’t have the distance, uh it’s a three-shot hole. Absolutely. Long par four down the hill. The par uh three after that, we were playing it back at 180, and you know, we had some wind. Uh the six hole is is a challenging golf hole. Then you get the short seventh, the fun eighth, and the long ninth. So I mean it’s it’s it’s a fun, fun.
Dan 8:58
Very fun. Yeah, it’s a good course. Yes, because for yes, because that’s the uh private side. Yeah, private one.
Jeremy 9:05
Yeah, the uh I haven’t played there for a few years. I don’t know if I’ve played there since they made those changes. Which was what two years ago?
Matt 9:13
Were they turf in the new turf, new greens, uh a couple years old. Um, you know, they did all that in lieu of the tour staying, and it didn’t. So yeah, I know they’re trying like hell to get an event back there. Hopefully, with this new challengers and champions starting in 28, we’ll get a spring event in Vegas, which I think would be amazing.
Dan 9:39
Yeah, yep. Need to get some kind of tour here.
Matt 9:42
You get the the really beautiful weather in October, but there’s no there’s no conditions that like haunt the guys. You get some of that you get some of that spring wind, you know. Yeah, that makes that makes T BC Summerlin play a little bit harder. So that’s true. We’ll see. We’ll see how that goes. So um, let’s see where else. Yeah, we
Revere Lexington Reopens & Overseeding Updates
Matt 10:05
played uh Lexington. Oh yeah. It opened up uh back up and it was not bad, not bad. I mean, there’s there’s some areas I still think I told everybody that I’ve talked to, it opened up too soon, in my opinion. I think they needed another week, another week and a half to let some of the grass grow in. There was a couple teas or a couple uh holes that was still you know seeded dirt, pretty much that the seed hadn’t taken yet. And you know, it’s still been warm. Right now it’s super nice outside. So yeah, I had my door open all day today. It’s absolutely gorgeous outside. Um, so hopefully this cooler weather will help with then the Concord is gonna come in fantastic right now with how the weather is. Um, but yeah, a little bit too soon. Greens were crazy soft and and uh a lot of bumpy, lot of a lot of issues on the greens with areas that hadn’t grown in, which was mind-boggling to me because it’s been closed for three months. Um greens I thought should have been flawless. But uh yeah, car path only. That course is not fun. So uh yeah, it was it was a long, it was a long day. Long day.
Jeremy 11:18
Yeah, was it pretty crowded or yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
Matt 11:21
There was uh two-ball behind us, there was two, there’s three or three or four or four balls in front of us. Um, you know, course was packed, so and then you get guys that don’t play great golf playing car path only on holes that it’s not a car path-only golf course. It it makes it tough. So, but the new grass on 118 and the par fives is fantastic. It’s fantastic. The 16, the road hole, you know, the one along Anthem Parkway, it looks outstanding. Outstanding. It’s I mean, come October, November, Lexington is gonna be just amazing.
Jeremy 12:03
So Bermuda, right?
Matt 12:06
Yeah, it’s a it’s a TIF Tuff, I think it’s called Bermuda. It’s it’s a real hearty, um durable, doesn’t require a lot of water, uh, grass that you know goes dormant in the winter.
Jeremy 12:19
And same one they did on 15, right? As a trial. Okay, so that’s nice. Yeah, that is 15 definitely improved when they did that grass.
Matt 12:28
It’s so weird hitting off that grass on that golf course because you’re like, this doesn’t feel right. This isn’t not what I’m expecting, you know. And uh so it’s yeah, it’s interesting. They got rid of some of the bunkers. We saw that, and uh yeah, it’s it’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be good. Uh Concord. If hey Vic, uh Vic’s asking when Concord’s gonna be back. Uh, if you go to the Vegas course conditions on the Chasing Daylight Podcast website, you can find that out. Um, I think I think I know October 5th is when Lexington goes off car path only, so that may be when Concorde comes back and does Car Path only for a couple weeks. So, but we’re getting we’re almost through the overseas season. There’s so many courses that are not open right now. It’s it’s tough to get a tea time, it’s even harder to uh you know enjoy the day because courses that are open are car path only. September is like a bad month for golf in Vegas.
Jeremy 13:26
Yeah, luckily the rain came at the end of the overseed instead of the beginning because I remember it just washes out when yeah, yep, yep. Hopefully, courses will be nice in a couple weeks.
Dan 13:38
Yeah, this this rain is free water, free water, it’s gonna go away though, unfortunately. Yeah, I heard it’s supposed to be like low 90s this week. I was like, what the fuck? Really? 24 hours of rain. Yeah, that’s what I heard, but I don’t know. Um I’m not I’m not a meteorologist.
Matt 13:58
It was 62 degrees in my backyard this morning. It was glorious, glorious. Yeah, taking the trash out, my shorts, I’m like, ah, it’s amazing. We should be getting out of this all the time. No, don’t get me wrong. Love the heat. Uh, this winter is supposed to be really wet. Yeah, El Nino. El Nino is here. So we’ll see how that uh pans out. You got the Vegas Knights are starting their season tonight. Uh the playoffs are starting tonight for baseball. When did the Dodgers play, Dan?
Dan 14:36
Um, I think they don’t play for a little bit. I think they will play the winner of the uh oh, they gotta buy, right? They’re not in the gotta play the winner of uh Atlanta and Phillies, I think.
Matt 14:47
Um let’s see. Yanks are up to nothing. Ace is lost on the road. Uh jumping back up to 90s.
Jeremy 14:57
It’s gonna be, I think the rest of the week is supposed to be sunny, so it’s probably gonna be a little humid too.
Matt 15:02
That’s okay. That’s right. Hey, we got we got the NASCAR race Saturday. Uh shout out to Garrett um and the crew at Garson. Shout out, Garson. Use our code Daylight Picture.
Dan 15:13
Shout out, Garson.
Matt 15:14
Shout out Garson. Uh, they are a sponsor for Garrett. He has one of the cars in the not the top tier, but the second tier of NASCAR. And so we got some uh tickets and some pit passes to go meet him on Saturday at a speedway night race. So should be pretty nice out there.
Dan 15:33
Yep, pretty nice. So yeah, it’ll be a good time.
Matt 15:39
Yeah, let’s
Golf Bag Giveaway
Matt 15:40
uh let’s give the bag away. Let’s let’s do that. Let’s let’s everybody is it is everybody that’s here that’s in the giveaway.
Dan 15:46
Diving headfirst into it. I love it. Rip the band-aid off. Let’s do it.
Matt 15:50
Let’s get it out.
Dan 15:52
Rip that scab back.
Matt 15:54
So let me uh bring up the wheel of names. Don’t need audio with that. Boom. There we are.
Dan 16:06
There it is.
Matt 16:07
There is the wheel of names. Alright. So there are the people that are in it. I got you over here. And uh let’s go. All right. So Teresa, I don’t know if Teresa’s here yet. Teresa, if you win, I’m gonna wait until you get to Vegas before I uh get to see you because I don’t want to pay $400 in shipping to Guam. Um got paint. If you win, I’m gonna find out how much the shipping is and maybe we can split it because it’s a big box going to Hawaii. So uh we’ll see. It was only supposed to be the lower 48, but I’m gonna throw your name in there anyways. So we’ll we’ll figure it out. If the reason was just send it to me. All right, here we go. Um, somebody comment, I know there’s a little delay, but somebody comment with how many times they want me to uh shuffle the wheel. Uh pick a number one through five, and I will do that. We always do that so people don’t think it’s rigged. Seven through five. I like it. Seven.
Dan 17:22
One through five. Wait. There we go. There he is. The dude got it with four.
Matt 17:27
Four, four, four, six, six, four. All right, I can’t. Where am I at? Where did we miss you? Where’s your post? I don’t see your post. Let me see your post. Did you tag us in a post? Because I’ve gone through all of them. I did it today just to make sure I didn’t see it. Let me check real quick.
Jeremy 17:47
I don’t see mine on there either.
Matt 17:49
Well, you don’t count.
Jeremy 17:50
I’m sick and tired of using my son’s junior bag.
Matt 17:52
You were in out, dude. There was so much shaft being shown in that.
Dan 17:57
I had to figure out at first what the hell that was. I was like, where the hell did he find that bag? Uh how many times you want to shuffle the name?
Matt 18:06
How many times we shuffle. So what do we do? We get six, all right. Six, six. Ready? One, two, three, four, five, six. Spin that shit. There we go.
Dan 18:17
For the bag. Who’s gonna get the bag? Oh, look at it. It’s a costa. Well, is what we picking numbers for? For you, dog.
Matt 18:33
For you. There we go. Chris is here. Congrats. Congrats. Congrats. So the bag has been given away. Congrats, Chris. Thank you so much. Dude, it’s it’s really nice. I mean, and his bag was pretty bad. So, I mean, it wasn’t as bad as Tracy’s. Tracy’s was really bad. Um, but uh yeah. Very nice golf bag. There it is. It’s no longer no longer up for grabs. The bag is gone, and uh, we don’t have to talk about that anymore. So Chris, congratulations. Uh let me know uh when you want to meet up, and uh I will get it to you. I’m not shipping it.
Jeremy 19:24
You live in town, so it’s good timing, Chris.
Matt 19:28
There you go. What do you think? My strap had to had to carry my bag around the hand. Oh, that’s never fun.
Jeremy 19:33
That’s a pain.
Matt 19:34
Yeah. That’s not good. That’s not good. All right. Golf
CDP Community Profiles & Course Reports
Matt 19:40
stuff we can talk about. All right. Couple things, couple changes to the uh Chasing Daylight podcast website. You know, we when I created the course conditions, uh, I then added the users. You know, I wanted you to be able to create an account so you can keep track of the courses you’ve rated. We can keep track of who’s rating them, uh, or filing the course reports and prevent people from you know fluffing up North Las Vegas part three. Uh that allowed us to create user profiles. So we have now we have the golf community on there where you can go and create your profile, upload uh photo of yourself, you have a baseball card image on the community page, and you could put in uh your what’s in the bag. Um, so that is slowly starting to take off. Uh, we have there’s over 55 people that have created accounts, but only 22 people have activated their profile. Uh so I set something up today to send everybody a reminder if you haven’t activated your profile. Um, so that that is going out there. So hopefully we can get the majority of the people that are part of it, update their photos, make their profile public, get a little bit more community growth going with that. I added something yesterday uh called Ask the Show, Ask the Host. Uh, it’s where you can submit a question. It doesn’t have to be during the live, doesn’t it? It can be whenever you want, you know. And if you’re like got something on your mind, like, oh, the CDP guys would love to know about this, you can go on there, submit it, and then we’ll talk about it on the show. So that’s another way for you guys to interact with us on the show. So that’s that is up there, it’s on the community page. Um, really want to get as many people as we can on that community page. The more people we get, the more active it becomes. Then we can start doing more and more things for everybody. So um thank you for those who are participating. We’re up to I think 60. Let me look and see. It’s been a minute since I looked, how many actual course reports we have on the website because it’s pretty cool.
Dan 21:50
D6.
SPEAKER_00 21:53
Let’s see what it uh let’s see. I hope I went to the wrong page.
Matt 22:00
See, right now we currently have 67. 67 courses have been reported. TPC Las Vegas is in the number one spot right now with a 9.3, uh, followed by Cody Springs, Dalium Mountain, Reflection Bay, and Revere. Um starting. We still have quite a few, quite a few courses that are on the reports list as far as close for overseating. October 4th is when, so the fifth, yeah. Fifth is when um Concord opens back up. So uh yeah, it’s it’s growing. We’re getting out there. I’m dropping little nuggets on Facebook every now and then. I see somebody post about conditions. I’m like, hey, boom, check it out. So we’ve gotten a lot of views on that, and I thank everybody for your support on that as we continue to make the conditions more well known for everybody. Start, I don’t want to say holding the courses accountable, but it’s kind of what it is, you know. Nobody likes showing up and the courses being in shitty conditions. Had they known, they may not have might not have gone. Yeah, so you know, let’s help each other out by letting everybody know what’s going on. What’s right, yep. Right now, uh yeah, it is just for Vegas courses. There’s the mesquite courses on there, Coyote Springs, Promp. Um, and uh I didn’t put Laughlin Ranch on there.
Dan 23:22
I just um Vegas and the surrounding areas.
Matt 23:26
Yeah, Vegas and the surrounding areas. I kind of wanted it to be this community. Hey, if it takes off and we’re getting a lot of people, maybe we can throw St. George up in there, you know, because that’s I know a lot of people come to Vegas to go to St. George. Um, so we can do that. Maybe some SoCal places that are you know not too far away. Um, but for right now, yeah, we’re just focusing on the Vegas courses, see how this goes, see if it works, and uh you know, we’ll see how it goes.
SPEAKER_00 23:52
We’ll see how it goes.
Presidents Cup Debate & Broadcast Frustrations
Matt 23:54
All right. Heather Golf News. Jeremy said he didn’t watch the president’s cup.
Jeremy 23:59
Dude, I tried. I I watched some highlights, but man, I just could not find the time. I wanted to, and I was kind of following along offline. But yeah, I don’t even know honestly how it went. That’s how bad it was.
Matt 24:15
It was a good Sunday, it was a good Sunday. They they finally played. I mean, the the team aspect for United States golfers is just not there. Yeah, it’s just not there. They love rooting for the other guys, you know, when they’re playing, you know, but alternate shot is just a travesty for us. We cannot figure it out. Yeah, I I don’t know if it’s ego, if it’s uh or what it is, but for some reason, when you have to hit somebody else’s golf shot, somebody else’s golf ball after they hit, they have no desire, it seems.
Dan 24:55
Yeah, getting swept on that second day was bad enough. But then when you looked at when you but when you looked at what the international team won by, it was just a throttling all day. It’s like fuck, those matches weren’t even close.
Matt 25:08
Yeah, the commercial breaks. I mean, how bad were those? They uh you had to watch the whole thing on playing through because you know, and I’m Eric and I were at the aces game, and so I’m watching it because I’m like, this comeback is it’s you know, they’re there, there’s a chance, there is a chance that they could pull this off. So I’m watching on my phone, and then it goes to playing through on my phone, so it’s like half my screen, and I’m like, I can’t, I can’t see them.
Dan 25:30
Can’t even see it, yeah.
Matt 25:31
Can’t see what’s happening. I don’t know who I luckily I know the golfers well enough to know their swings, but you know what shot it was, or it’s just it was so bad. They gotta I hate playing through, I’m so done with playing through.
Jeremy 25:44
Yeah, it’s the thing that’s always like you lose a lot of momentum. The commercials, the playing through. It’s like you’re not really watching golf at that point.
Matt 25:53
No, and it’s funny, I I watching um I wanted to finish the YGT at Rams Hill. I still haven’t finished it. And uh I I had some time, and like, oh none of this. I’ve watched all my shows. I got you know, I got a half hour here. Let me throw it on. Put it on. I’m sitting there watching it, I’m like, and then it goes to commercial, and I was like, I don’t even watch this anymore. It just turned it off. It was so and I know it’s like it happens when I’m watching, you know, but it’s live golf, you know, and just uh yeah, it just sucks. It just sucks.
Jeremy 26:26
I just wish that they could get the arrangement like the Masters has, where they have one or two ads every hour or something, but especially on these bigger events like the Ryder Cup, the President’s Cup, it’s like dude.
Matt 26:38
Rolex throws out so much money, just hey, the next two hours is brought to you uninterrupted by Rolex, you know, because everybody watching needs a Rolex and can’t afford them.
Jeremy 26:53
What do you think that I mean? I know we’ve talked about it before about US team and obviously the President’s Cup and the Ryder Cup, they’re just different. I mean, the Europeans bring a different intensity and they’re all kind of grouped together and they play together all the time and stuff, but just from what I’ve read, and I didn’t like I said, I didn’t watch, but it just was kind of yeah, was it’s always gonna be the like redheaded stepchild of the Ryder Cup, you know, it’s you never have.
Dan 27:29
I mean, but that’s the same thing though with you know, a lot of people say with the Ryder Cup, like how you know they would like to see some more international play on that. Well, the US hasn’t enough time tough time just beating guys from Europe and Spain and stuff like that, you know. Yeah, so it’s it’s just different because well, for one, I think um, you know, the Ryder Cup has so much more history. And it’s um and I’m not sure the President’s Cup not a USGA event, right? Yeah, yeah. So, you know, with the Ryder Cup being how it is, it’s just it’s just a better overall tournament. But uh but yeah, it’s I think it’s one of those things that because US always it plays poorly against like the Ryder Cup, like you want to watch to see whether they’re either gonna win or what kind of dumpster fire it’s gonna be.
Joe 28:21
Yeah.
Dan 28:22
With the president’s cup, you already know to what to expect. The US is probably gonna win because they’ve won at what 11, 10, something like that. 11, 12 years in a row now. So I just think it’s just it just doesn’t compare with the with the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup’s just so much more fun to watch.
Matt 28:38
I I would be okay with the President’s Cup going away. You know, we we play this event, this type of event every year as a as a the USA. Yeah, the Europeans don’t do it every year, they only do it every two. International doesn’t do it every year, they only do it every two. You know, we do it every year, and every year there’s scrutiny, every year there’s questions. I mean, the barrage that Snedeker and his crew took after getting swept on day two, I mean, it was like he went out and was punching babies, just the the bashing, it was like, wow, you know, it’s we’re not good at this format. It’s not, you know, back in the day when it was a different era and a different, you know, there wasn’t 20 million dollars up for grabs on a weekend, you know, there’s not guys that are under contract, and that’s Scotty Scheffler making stupid, stupid money, you know, it was it was for pride, and and that’s kind of all gone away, especially with so much international play. You know, there’s you know the it was a rare sighting to see an American play in the British Open, you know, because back then it wasn’t the easiest thing to get to. It wasn’t a four-hour private jet flight out of Ligoria, you know, it’s uh yeah, it was like a 16-hour boat ride and shit. Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. So different eras, different eras, 100%. Um, but I I could I could see them going, hey, let’s let’s give the president cup to the Corn Ferry guys, and uh, you know, you see how it is, and sorry that you’re an international player, go play India in a writer cup event. I you know it’s figure it out on your own. We don’t we don’t need it, we don’t need it. It’s too much. Give me a two-year break.
Medinah Redesign & the Captain Connection
Matt 30:39
How how about I I thought this was surprising that nobody was talking about this. How about the captain of the international team was part of the redesign team for the course that they played for the president’s cup? Ogil V.
Dan 30:55
Oh, Jeff Ogil V? Yeah, yeah.
Matt 30:57
The cat right, the the President’s Cup captain for the international team did was a part of the redesign of the course that they competed on. Why wasn’t more people talking about that?
Dan 31:09
That’s the first I heard of it, too.
Matt 31:11
Yeah, it’s yeah, same. It’s the they did a great job, don’t get me wrong. The course looked amazing. Oh, yeah, it looked great, it looked absolutely incredible. The the picket fence down the side that was OB loved it. Not only it kept the fans away from some of the areas, but it was a you know, there a lot of guys hit it OB. Um, great, great redesign.
Jeremy 31:34
But I was like, how did they uh you guys remember Medina before the redesign?
Matt 31:42
Yeah, that well, they were showing a lot of the you know, the Sergio and the Tiger Highlights.
Jeremy 31:46
It seemed like from what I see, yeah. The tiger highlights, it seemed completely different. A hundred percent the amount I did watch, it’s like this does not look like Medina. I had to check a couple times that I remember because I remember Tiger winning there. How many courses?
Dan 32:00
How many courses does Medina have? Is it three or four?
Matt 32:05
Not sure. I have stat guy get into that and see.
Jeremy 32:09
Stat GPT.
Matt 32:11
Hey Bush, you got you got your uh speaker coming. That’s that’s all you got. Yeah, speaker’s on the way. Yeah, Joe’s not here, so we can’t confirm what he said. Chris Acosta won the bag earlier. So yeah, could you imagine like Jack Nicholas going over and designing a course in England, and then that’s where the Ryder Cup is, and he’s the captain of the Ryder Cup. It would never hear the end of that.
Jeremy 32:39
Three courses, Dan. Three courses, gotcha. Are we sure that hasn’t happened, Matt?
Matt 32:46
Uh you know what? It might have.
Jeremy 32:48
We’ll have to dig in and see, especially someone like Jack who’s done them everywhere.
Matt 32:53
Yeah, but I mean, as the I just thought that was crazy. The captain of the team redesigned the course that they’re competing on against the United States in the United States.
Dan 33:07
Didn’t uh didn’t uh work out in their favor. No, yeah, it didn’t some Brock Bowers gear. Oh, I got some. Got the jersey hanging in the closet.
Matt 33:21
Brock had a day. Welcome back, Brock. He had a day. Yes, he did. Raiders 3-0. It’s so no, it’s like everybody’s talking about it, but nobody’s talking about it.
Dan 33:34
It’s like only Raider fans are talking about it. Everybody else, yeah. Everybody else is waiting for them to come back to reality.
Jeremy 33:43
So, interesting fact from Stat GPT.
Matt 33:47
Oh, all right.
Jeremy 33:47
So Jack Nicholas captained the U.S. on his own course, Muirfield Village, in ’87. Um, K Club, Arnold Palmer. Palmer was a former Ryder Cup captain, although he wasn’t captaining in that year until 06 when they played the K Club. And then Greenbrier in 79, Nicholas redesigned the existing course. But he wasn’t on the team. So I guess really only one time, but there’s some asterisks.
Matt 34:14
Yeah, there’s some asterisk there. Like, I just I that would that blew me away. It blew me away, and then they kept on talking about it on the broadcast. Ogle B and his team did a fantastic job, and not one person went. Do you find that a little odd that the guy that’s captaining this team just designed redesigned this golf course? It’s crazy. Um, but the Kim bro, the Kim, C Wu and and uh Tom, Tom Kim. Oh my goodness, they played fantastic.
Dan 34:49
Yeah, they get up for that event.
Matt 34:52
They do, they do, and we don’t, we don’t at all.
Dan 34:58
Well, we keep winning. That’s I guess not all that matters, but yeah.
Matt 35:02
Hey, we only got 10 entries right now into the show giveaway. If you’re new and you just got here, uh giving away a box of Chrome boxes, these come out before they release to the public. Uh, that’s the only thing that’s special about them. Same balls you buy in the store, but you know, you get a cool little white box. And then we’re also giving away uh CDP Vegas shirt. So make sure to get yourself into the comments um for that. Let’s see what else was in the golfing news. What else we missed? Uh let’s see, Cameron Smith
Tour News & Bryson’s Backyard Challenges
Matt 35:40
is saying that he is not sure. He needs some more information before committing to Live 2.0. No surprise there. Uh, Matt Fitzpatrick won the Open Da France. Uh his 11th DP world title. Congrats to Maddie. Uh, and then there is a big live contingent at the Dunhill Lynx. This week’s event features 25 live members and reserves alongside a field headed by Kepka, Tommy Fleetwood, Terrell Hatton, and Justin Rose, the action span, St. Andrews, Carnusti, and Kings Martins. So that’s some good stuff right there.
Jeremy 36:15
Yeah, it’s a nice rotation.
unknown 36:17
Yeah.
Jeremy 36:17
You guys been watching Bryce’s little Bryson’s daily challenge? No.
Matt 36:23
I have, I have, I have too. I’m guilty. Um, I mean, it’s it’s it’s quick, it’s on Instagram. There’s not a lot of fluff. It’s hit a shot, go home. Hit a shot, stick around. Um, I’m sure they filmed it in about 30 minutes. You know, it’s all chip shots. Um, not really sure it’s showing great golf skills. Some of the shots seem pretty tough.
Jeremy 36:54
I mean, his setup is definitely cool. Oh, very wouldn’t expect anything else, but the shot today I thought was probably the hardest one.
Matt 37:03
Yeah, yeah. It was uh it was pretty good. So yeah, yeah, he’s getting. I mean, there’s like three million views on each one, so yep, it’s it’s insane. But it’s like it’s a quick hit, you know, it’s a quick hit. So we’ll do is we’ll we’ll gather everybody, all the Vegas golf personalities, we’ll have them come to my backyard and hit chip shots. There we go. Uh yeah, it’s it’s entertaining, you know, and that’s what I know that’s what Bryson’s there for to entertain. So I would like to see maybe some different people than what we just saw on YGT and what we just saw on um People’s League. You know, there’s other golfers out there that I think could do these things that bring some awareness to some other people, but you know, yeah, his backyard is absolutely ridiculous.
Jeremy 37:55
Yeah, I’ve been it looks like that turf looks incredible how it reacts like a real green. I guess when you can pay for the good stuff, yeah.
Matt 38:05
Yeah, that’s that’s not a you know, found some guys at Home Depot and threw some grass in the back.
Joe 38:10
No.
Matt 38:15
Star Nursery. Uh uh hey, real quick, want to give some love to Ultra, Ultra. These are the focus pouches, they do not have nicotine in them, so you don’t get the jittery jittery jitits like I do if I take some of those things that Jeremy likes to throw in his jits, the jits. Uh we have a code. We have a code daylight. So go to ultra.com. There is a link on the website. If you go look at any of the episodes, little sidebar, there’s a link you can click on it. Code is daylight. So daylight try these the focus, the focus pouches are pretty pretty good. Oh, look, we have a greenly.
Jeremy 38:57
Oh what’s up, Eric?
Matt 38:59
What’s up, Mr. Greenley? He was in town this weekend, didn’t get a chance to see him. One because he didn’t invite me to the dinner first night, which what a shame that was. Just like I go, I guess I’m not fancy enough to hang out with you, huh?
Dan 39:15
He’s fancy.
Matt 39:16
Then he grabbed Shirley completely by her belt strap and threw her 100% under the bus. She didn’t text you, it’s not my fault. You gotta have outs. Gotta have outs. Yeah, look at him. See his comment. That was Shirley, yeah. Still throwing her under the bus. Oh, but uh, yeah, they went to the ninth game Saturday night. Um, they lost. That was a bummer. But new season starts tonight. The nights start tonight. Yeah, yanks are up 3-0. We got anything else golf going on wise?
Dan 39:58
Just that Utah Championship up there at Black Uh Black Resort, Black Desert.
Matt 40:03
Without Joe here, it’s so strange.
Jeremy 40:05
It is. There’s no one to fight with you.
Matt 40:08
I know.
Jeremy 40:09
Yeah.
Matt 40:10
I can say whatever I want and get positive reinforcement tonight.
Jeremy 40:14
I’m trying to think of something I can say to hurt your feelings, but it’s just not me.
Matt 40:19
Oh,
Tee Box Banter & a Near Hole-in-One
Matt 40:20
did you see the post that Johnny put out today with where they got me?
Dan 40:25
Johnny.
Matt 40:26
Johnny JP golf, Johnny Pichelles. So I played with him, Julian, Julian’s uh buddy uh Lexington, and I played up a box. They played the backseat, I played up a box, yeah, and they he got me good. It it was good. Oh, come on, play. Why is it not playing?
Jeremy 40:56
Oh geez.
Matt 41:01
Totally got me there. Uh uh, yeah. The comments are hilarious. Everybody’s like, you did him wrong.
unknown 41:08
What’s wrong?
Matt 41:09
Cold blooded damn did him dirty. Hey, sorry, I don’t hit the ball as far as I was gonna, but it made it’s funny. That video makes it seem like that box was a hundred yards up. Yeah, it’s it’s just across the car path, it’s not that far. So uh yeah, he had a nice little chip-in eagle on uh on that hole. Yeah, that’s the par five. That’s uh 12 or 11. Uh he had a nice um eagle punch. That’s a good one.
Jeremy 41:37
That’s a good one to eagle.
Matt 41:39
Yeah, it was he was down in the rough, short left of the green, came out of that rough and just rolled the whole way and dropped. It was it was a nice very nice. That’s right. Almost had that hole in one on 13.
Jeremy 41:52
Yeah, oh that okay, dude. Yeah, I don’t know how your ball ended up where it did.
Matt 42:00
Me either.
Jeremy 42:01
Without like hitting how far was your ball mark behind the pin?
Matt 42:05
Oh, it was like a I mean I have the photo like a foot screen up. It it was close. Let’s see, I think I took a screenshot.
Dan 42:13
I think I took a screenshot, and that was with your seven wood, you said, yeah, that was seven wood from 195. How did it not hit the pin? Yeah, definitely threw a definitely threw a dart.
Matt 42:26
The the it landed past the hole and bounced back. That that you know, but I don’t know how it missed the flag. I mean, I didn’t see it because the that hump that’s in front of the green, you know, the the T the box we hit from wasn’t the one as you go around the car path on top of the hill, it was before you get to the T box where you guys normally hit from. So it was on that left side, you know. So it was it was playing all of 200 yards, and and uh yeah, I hit it, and I’m like, Oh man, that’s really good. And then the guy saw the reaction, I’m like, Oh, what happened? I just couldn’t see because then we got up there, I was like, Oh man, that that was close.
Jeremy 43:03
That was been a good one to get one on.
Matt 43:08
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. I always thought my first one was gonna come on that hole because I have done shots like that probably three or four times, and I’ve hit the pin a couple times on that hole. So it’s it’s one that just I don’t know why. It just I like to hit nice shots when I get to that hole.
Dan 43:27
Yeah, so your first one came in Georgia.
Matt 43:31
Yeah, that that course right up there.
Dan 43:35
That was sick.
Matt 43:37
Again, didn’t see it.
Dan 43:39
That was tough to say. We uh I I don’t think any of us could really really see it.
Matt 43:45
I do want to go back and play there though.
Jeremy 43:47
Which which one was that on? Which course?
Matt 43:50
Uh preserve.
Jeremy 43:51
Preserve course.
Matt 43:52
Yeah, the preserve scorecard up there. Yeah, it was the eighth hole.
Jeremy 44:00
Lake O’Ko. How far was it?
Matt 44:03
165. I had three birdies and a hole in one and shot 82.
Jeremy 44:12
What what hole number was that? You got a hole in one? Eight.
Matt 44:16
Yeah.
Jeremy 44:17
So the back nine was a blur.
Matt 44:19
Um I had two birdies after that, but I had a couple bogies too. So that was a fun round though, because it was late in the afternoon, sun was going down, sky was lit up, all cotton candy.
Dan 44:33
Yeah.
Matt 44:34
Clubhouse was shut down, so I didn’t have to pay for anybody’s drinks.
Dan 44:38
Yeah.
Matt 44:39
Had to go find a tofu moose pump place to tofu pizza for Bob. Pizza for Bob. What was that pizza?
Dan 44:48
Magic mushroom or something like that.
Matt 44:52
Terrible. Good times. Good times. Saving me a lot of money. Thank you.
Dan 44:58
That was a dope trip. Thank you, uh, Five Iron Golf.
Matt 45:02
Yeah. We need to win some more stuff like that.
Dan 45:05
Yeah.
Rose & Fire Customer Service
Matt 45:06
Hey, um, good news about the Ass Man cover.
Jeremy 45:11
You’re getting a new one.
Matt 45:12
Getting a new one.
Jeremy 45:13
They’re sending you a new one. Wow.
Matt 45:15
Sending me a new one. Reached out, said, Hey, that’s don’t know what happened with that. Not what we do. We’re gonna remedy that. He goes, Can I have that one back so I can find out what happened? I said, Absolutely, you can have it back. And he’s like, Great, sending you another one. So thank you, Rose and Fire, for handling business as a professional. I did apologize for like taking my anger to the social media networks, but I was upset.
Dan 45:39
That’s impressive for them to do that. It definitely resonated with them.
Matt 45:43
Yeah, so good for them. And then I talked to Mike, and and we may have him on the show. So um, because they’re they’re doing some good things there. And I told him, I said, you know, I’ve got three or four year head covers, and none of them have done this, so and he’s like, That’s that’s not what we do. I’m like, all right, cool.
Dan 46:01
Hell yeah.
Matt 46:03
So ass man will be back in the bag.
Dan 46:06
That’s good customer service.
Vegas Golf Network’s Final Stretch & Future CDP Events
Matt 46:08
It is, it is. Um, VGN is winding down. We got basically three rounds of golf left in the entirety of the Vegas Golf Network.
Jeremy 46:18
Yeah, yeah.
Matt 46:19
I I had somebody call me yesterday. This is a great story. Called me up yesterday, uh, and he’s like, hey, is this the Vegas Golf Network? I said, Yeah, this is Matt. How can I help you? And he’s like, Um, he goes, I I was just playing in a charity event in Arizona and uh somebody told me about your league. And he goes, I’ve been in Vegas for about a year, and he goes, So I did some research, and uh he goes, You basically came up as number one, two, and three of my options of who I wanted to play with. Like, but we’re shutting down. He’s like, Oh no, yeah. So I’m like, yeah, sorry. No, it’s just it’s run its run its course and and we’re done. So he was bummed about that. But we’ve got uh our next regular season event that anybody can participate in that Las Vegas National. It’s a Sunday tournament. Um sent the emails out to everybody Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, not a typo. It is a Sunday, 7 a.m. shotgun at Las Vegas National. Hopefully, in the next two weeks, that course gets back to what we know it has, and we have a good outing there. And uh then I sent an email out to everybody that is currently in the top 15 and points in each flight, just asking, hey, if you make it, there’s a really good chance you are for where you’re sitting in the standings right now. Can you play in the event? Trying to get a head count because we don’t have a lot of time between events. Um, and uh I’ve gotten some good feedback from everybody on that. So um thank you for those of you who have responded, and those of you haven’t, you’re on my shit list. Jerry says, I’m sorry.
Jeremy 47:59
Very guilty right now. Me too.
Matt 48:02
Yeah, I saw the email, but yeah, yeah. Uh and then for the natural thing, I sent out an email today to everybody. I’m like, all right, let’s try this. If you’re not playing, click this link. That’s all you have to do. It will email me and tell me you’re not playing.
Jeremy 48:17
Make it a massive button.
Matt 48:19
Uh flashes. It I it’s as big as it can get.
Jeremy 48:23
Yeah. Sunday tournament. Yeah, we only we used to do like split like 50% Sundays, Saturdays, but then I think a lot of people said no Sundays.
Matt 48:34
Yeah, a lot of people uh can’t do Sundays that are in the league. Uh it’s the 18th. It’s the uh 18th. Um, yeah, a lot of people couldn’t do we uh you’re right, we used to rotate Saturdays and Sundays, Saturdays, Sundays, and maybe I should have done that this year. I don’t know. Um, we’ve had you know a lot of people that can’t play Saturdays, and we have a lot of people that can’t play Sundays, so it’s it’s kind of you know I try as best I can. The rates are better on Sundays and it makes it more affordable, but we get less people, so that’s why I do Saturdays. Uh let me rephrase that. That’s why we did Saturdays, yeah. Um, so then the finals are at Legacy, the 7th and 8th of November, and then we’re done. And then we’re done. Uh, I’ve talked with Sean Rowe. He wants to do a get together. Um, we’re gonna plan something. I’m gonna invite everybody that has ever been in the VGN. I’m gonna send an email out and say, you’re welcome to come to this. We’re gonna figure out where we’re gonna do it at. I know Sean’s got the food truck, um, and we’ll reach out to some other people. We’ll, you know, put together a list of hey, bring this and let’s just have a hoe down, you know, let’s just have some fun somewhere, hang out, socialize, and and uh send the VGN off into foreverness.
Jeremy 49:58
Think Summit would host us?
Matt 50:01
No, it should. You know, I I think what would be fun, but it would be a lot of work, and I don’t want to do something that’s a lot of work. Um, Wild Horse has lights for the range and a practice area. I think it would be fun to have like three food trucks pull up where the carts park on the range and just have bays and have people hit balls, eat food, drink beer, putt, shoot the shit, and just have a good old time. Um, but that would take a lot of work, and I I’m done with doing a lot of work. I’m done.
Jeremy 50:40
Done a lot of work for a very long time on that.
Matt 50:42
Yeah, but my focus is now more on the chasing daylight community, the chasing daylight podcast, growing the show. Uh, we just hit 50,000 downloads on Spotify, which is pretty awesome. Um, we’re we’re cranking it up, um, getting the word out there. Yeah, right. Doesn’t that sound like don’t you think that would be fun? I mean, oh yeah, you go get some go get some food if you want, go hit some balls if you want, you know. I talked to my boss, maybe set up the Callaway tent and and have some people, you know. But again, I don’t want to be there to manage that. So I I want to kick back, hang out, and with everybody. Yeah, so we’ll figure something out. So if you were ever a part of the VGN, unless you got kicked out, I’m not inviting you. Um then come.
Jeremy 51:32
Only two people.
Matt 51:33
Yeah, it’s it’s a very short list.
Jeremy 51:35
Yes.
Matt 51:36
Um, if you need players for Sunday, okay. I’ll let you know. I’ll let you know. Yeah, we got there’s I think 39, 34, 42 people signed up so far. There’s 20 spots left. A ton of people that haven’t responded to the invites. That’s why I was trying to be a little belligerent. Like, dude, dude, if you’re not playing, just tell me. I don’t care. Just tell me if you’re not playing. Yeah, it’s not that hard. If you don’t tell me you’re not playing, I’m gonna consider you’re playing. Maybe I should just start sending invoices.
Jeremy 52:06
The certified letter with return receipt.
Matt 52:11
Oh, yeah. Don’t don’t let me figure out how to turn read receipt on and Gmail. Y’all, that’s I’ve heard too many podcast stories about that.
Jeremy 52:21
Uh yeah, that would be and also like chaseing daylight uh CDP events eventually. I know we there’s a lot to talk about with that, but that would be amazing.
Matt 52:34
That will be coming, and when we do something like that, the first people that are gonna find out about it are the people that are in the community on the website that have a user account that we can contact. You will get first dips. So if there’s 140-40, let me try that again. If there’s 144 people in the community and we open up an event and everybody commits to it, the public misses out, you know, they miss out, but you’ll get the first opportunity to sign up. Members will be able to sign up at a discounted rate, and uh then we’ll open it up to the public. So there’s gonna be perks, there’s gonna be perks for it.
Joe 53:15
Hell yeah.
Matt 53:17
I can’t do it. Dallas doesn’t play Green Bay until five.
Jeremy 53:22
Uh that was the big reason we didn’t do Sundays.
Matt 53:26
Yeah, once in the fall season hurt, oh man, no shows like crazy.
Jeremy 53:31
Out of football.
Matt 53:34
Yeah, I I mean I love football too, but I love golf more. Streaming, especially now that you can watch the game on your phone and from your cart.
Dan 53:45
Streaming on your phone, yeah. Hell yeah.
Matt 53:47
Yeah, I’d much rather play golf than sit on the couch and watch football. There’s nothing wrong with that. Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with sitting on the couch watching football.
Dan 53:56
Oh yeah. Scratch your weathels all day, not to worry about nobody watching you.
Matt 54:02
Uh let’s see. I’m gonna turn the night’s game on. Why not? There we go. All right. Kind of a slow night. Sorry, Joe’s not here. We’ll have like a big oh, that’s a little loud. We’ll have the uh you know, bigger celebration when Joe’s here. I’m bummed he couldn’t be here. It’s not the same without Joseph.
Dan 54:35
When does he come back?
Matt 54:37
He’s on a plane right now. Oh he was gonna try and join from the plane on the Wi-Fi. I’m like, no, you can’t do that.
Dan 54:45
They weren’t gonna coming at you live from Southwest, flight 4706.
Matt 54:52
We’re 30,000 feet above New Mexico right now. Are you went to a renaissance festival? We gotta talk about that.
Dan 55:03
All I saw was him stomping around in the mud, and I was like, what the fuck is going on over there?
Matt 55:07
Yeah, I think he was doing that low footage to cover up his chain mail and armor. Yeah, he might have had a helmet on or something. Yeah, yeah.
Jeremy 55:17
He was on his way to a joust competition.
Matt 55:21
Was pulling his donkey behind him with a turkey leg. Yep, greed. Yeah, early Sunday morning tea times are amazing. I I agree. First tea is dead after 10 a.m. Sunday is delightful. Yeah, yeah. Not always the case
T-Shirt Giveaway & Golf Catch-Up
Matt 55:40
out here. Not always the case out here. Hardly out here. Yeah, they’re packed all the time. So all right, let’s do the first, let’s do the first giveaway. We’re gonna give away this t-shirt first. It is a large. Sorry, it’s a large logo. The throwback logo. Do do do a green up.
Dan 56:03
I think I have do do do do do. That old logo here too. Yeah, I do.
SPEAKER_00 56:11
Share.
Matt 56:15
Not that one. Matt’s dart. My dart.
Jeremy 56:21
That green looked pure, by the way.
Matt 56:23
Yeah, that’s shaggy but pure. A lot of the greens were really good, but there was a lot of areas that were not great. Not great. And it was a little disheartening. Alright, first giveaway. Uh t-shirt. See whoens. Who’s a wiener?
Dan 56:45
Dude, dude. Dude. What a large fit for you, sir. Dude, you’re getting a Dell.
Matt 56:58
Just a little delay, so we’ll wait.
Dan 57:02
Yeah, hopefully he’s a large or maybe his wife’s a large or his kids are large.
Matt 57:08
Oh, wait, hang on. This is extra large.
Jeremy 57:10
Oh, even better. Extra large.
Matt 57:13
It’s an XL. Oh my bad.
Jeremy 57:15
And if you’re large, it’ll shrink a little.
Matt 57:18
Yeah. Right on. It’ll work. There you go. Wait. I will I will send you a message on Instagram and get your address and ship that out. Thank you so much. Stop sharing that. Uh all right. Okay, one more giveaway we’ll do uh for the uh box of balls. Um again, everybody, thank you so much for being here. Sorry, Joe’s not here. It is quiet. I the these two are tough. They they don’t like the chat. I gotta poke and prod to get them to say stuff.
Jeremy 57:54
Yeah, Sam from Lab thought we were security, so yeah, yeah, he did.
Matt 57:58
That was so funny. Uh Jeremy hasn’t played much golf. Dan hasn’t played much golf. Julian said you were struggling with your seven wood, Dan. What’s up with that?
Joe 58:11
Um well you only hit it like twice.
Matt 58:14
I hit it twice, yeah. Okay.
Dan 58:17
But yeah, just yeah, games are rusty, is all.
unknown 58:20
Okay.
Dan 58:21
But we all good. It’ll sharpen up by the time we get out to uh get out to Alabama so Bush can get uh get annihilated out there.
Matt 58:31
That’s what we’ll do. We’ll do traveling matches.
Jeremy 58:33
Yes.
Matt 58:36
We’ll have Joe distract everybody with his wheezy. Dan and Jeremy will just light it up. I’ll be there for moral support.
Dan 58:45
The old keys wheeze.
Matt 58:47
The keys wheeze.
Dan 58:54
Time travels, Joe, if you’re listening.
Matt 58:57
Uh I haven’t played since Coyote. Yeah, same.
Jeremy 59:02
No, we played it. We played it uh reflection after Coyote.
Matt 59:05
Yeah, you played Lexington, yeah. You didn’t play bad. Or you played no reflection.
Jeremy 59:10
I played decent. I mean, I lost to you, so that’s all I remember, but it’s all that matters. Remember the important stuff. Yep, yep.
Matt 59:19
Four and three. That’s all you gotta remember. Or three and two. Three and two. Was it three or four?
Jeremy 59:23
Either it’s just as painful either way.
Matt’s Fitness Milestone & Vegas Sports Talk
Matt 59:26
Yeah. Two and one, two and one on the season. Yeah, I I did hit a milestone today. So when I started working with my trainer, Shane, which Shane’s gonna start writing some articles for the CDP on golf and fitness, so I’m excited about that. Um, we had a goal of 185 by Halloween, and I hit 185 today. So I’m very excited about that. Yeah, congrats. Played all of coyote, I don’t want to put myself through any more punishment.
Jeremy 59:59
Yeah, I feel that.
Matt 1:00:03
Yeah, so uh now the goal is to get into the 70s um and uh keep it rolling.
Jeremy 1:00:12
I used to match your ball speed to your weight.
Matt 1:00:16
Yeah. That, yeah. Well, there is one thing that I’m working on right now. Uh, I mean, I I sent a video to Tim and he’s like, he goes, You are getting through the ball so much better, you know. But I I there’s a couple areas where now that I have the the flexibility and you know a little bit more athleticism, I guess you could say, um, I’m gonna be working on some things to hopefully add a little bit of clubhead speed. I don’t want to go crazy. I’m not doing like speed training, you know, I’m not trying to swing at 120. But I like you know, 10105, 106, I’d be really happy with 105, 106. So we’ll see.
Jeremy 1:00:56
Todd playing stallion. You have to let us know. Do the do the course report. I’m curious how that place is, if it’s really as good as everyone says.
Matt 1:01:03
It’s getting some good, getting some good reviews.
Dan 1:01:06
That’s what I hear.
Jeremy 1:01:09
That’s another place. I think I played one time and it was like five years ago.
Matt 1:01:13
Yeah, it’s wouldn’t mind getting out there again. Emma was in junior golf last time I played there. I don’t know how true this is, but I heard every pound lost is four or less pounds of pressure on your knees. It’s it’s been a dramatic change for me, I tell you. It’s I I sent you guys those photos of that gear that I got at TJ Maxx. Um, and I was so like, I was walking around with a grin on my face, and Eric’s like, what are you smiling at? And I’m like, You understand? This is a Peter Millar large rain jacket, and it fits. This is a Johnny O sweater hoodie that’s large and it fits.
Dan 1:01:56
So I’m proud moment, proud moment.
Matt 1:02:00
I was like, you know, and and seeing those things like I never looked in the large section before. There’s a lot more options in the large section than the large section. Yeah, I’m like, wow, this is kind of cool. Yeah, this Johnny O Lamb Man, large, very nice. I can wear this now. So A the nice discord.
Jeremy 1:02:20
Keep it up, man.
Dan 1:02:21
So nice go one nothing, one nothing right now.
Matt 1:02:27
So good start. Good start. Keep it going, boys.
Dan 1:02:32
You see, they’re gonna name the group who’s gonna be the franchise owner for the new Vegas NBA team.
Matt 1:02:38
Oh, they are?
Dan 1:02:39
Oh it’s in the very near future, dude.
Matt 1:02:42
I want that star arena to happen. Have you seen the the images of that? Is that the one down by on Star Las Vegas Boulevard?
Jeremy 1:02:52
Yeah, Star, yep, yep.
Dan 1:02:53
I don’t know if I’ve seen that one.
Matt 1:02:54
Dude, it’s a mixed, it’s a mixed-use facility with an MLS arena and an MBA arena. Oh shit, it looks ridiculous. And thank you for bringing something to the south side of the valley. Thank you.
Dan 1:03:06
Yeah, hopefully they go down that far.
Jeremy 1:03:09
Dude, you can imagine the traffic there though.
Dan 1:03:11
Right now, there’s nothing because I hear I hear that they want to that. Um, did you hear about that diamond arena they want to do?
Matt 1:03:19
Oh, yeah, they want to build that across from Mandalay. Yeah, so much traffic there already.
Dan 1:03:24
They want to build that across a mandalay, and I think that that parking lot where uh one October is. I don’t know if they’re gonna open that to like general parking or turn that into a parking structure, parking garage. I’m not sure what’s going on, but they’re gonna have to do something for that uh A Stadium because the A stadium’s right there.
Matt 1:03:45
Oh, yeah, and that thing’s coming along. That’s looking amazing.
Dan 1:03:49
That thing is just it’s crazy how quick it’s going up.
Matt 1:03:52
I know. I can’t, I mean, we’re we’re not that far away from baseball in Vegas.
Jeremy 1:03:57
Like that changes like driving the 215 toward like north, it changes the view of the strip so much. Seeing those the framing of the arch right and stuff going up right now.
Matt 1:04:08
Oh and when that’s covered in glass, it’s gonna look so sick. Oh sick.
Dan 1:04:13
It’s gonna look like the Sydney Opera House. That’s the that’s the vibes I get off of the renderings.
Matt 1:04:20
Uh let’s go work at the A Stadium, Dan.
Dan 1:04:24
Yeah, I might.
Matt 1:04:27
We got some good connections for the for the A’s. So I will definitely be attending baseball games there. 100%. For sure.
Jeremy 1:04:34
Be an A’s fan. Will you leave the Yankees and be an A’s fan?
Matt 1:04:39
I’ll still root for the Yankees, of course, but I will I Vegas is my home.
Jeremy 1:04:44
Yeah, I mean, you left the Cowboys for the Raiders.
Matt 1:04:48
American League team, Dan. You can have an American League team. No such thing. I know. It’s okay. Used to be able to have an American League team and a National team. You know, you used to be able to root for both because they never played each other. Interleague fucked them all up.
Dan 1:05:02
Yeah.
Matt 1:05:03
Messed it all up. They need to go back to that.
Jeremy 1:05:10
I don’t remember the last baseball game I watched, but I think I’ll probably start supporting the A’s.
unknown 1:05:16
Nice.
Dan 1:05:17
Jay, you’ve never been out to you’ve never been at the Las Vegas Ballpark?
Jeremy 1:05:20
I have been once uh a few years ago. But like an MLB game I haven’t watched for years.
Matt 1:05:28
Cash and Field, man.
Jeremy 1:05:30
Oh, Cash.
Matt 1:05:30
Hell yeah. Speakers right behind you and you’re deaf for three hours.
Dan 1:05:36
Yep. Ringing in earlier tinnitus.
Matt 1:05:39
Oh Thursday beer night. Yeah, I mean those were the days back then, man.
Dan 1:05:48
Hell yeah. About 40 of those.
Golf Ball Giveaway
Matt 1:05:53
Uh all right, let’s do this other giveaway and get the heck out of here. So this is for the dozen. Chrome soft, Chrome Soft. These are not Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X. Double T’s. They’re Chrome Soft. This is still a premium golf ball. It’s just a very low compression premium golf ball.
Jeremy 1:06:12
Those those are prototypes, right? Like before they launched the actual Yeah, before they launch.
Matt 1:06:17
It’s the same ball. Same ball. This is what they send out to staffers and people to test. Bring that back up. Remove that. Share with audio is so stupid. Alright, here we go. So draw again. They all slice the same to me. Yeah. Watch Greenly win. Ah, teal, there you go.
Jeremy 1:06:57
Nice, Tyler.
Matt 1:06:59
Nice Tyler. Couple local guys in the room tonight.
Jeremy 1:07:03
Make it an easy on you.
Matt 1:07:08
And Dan Tefasian got his stuff at the Coyote Springs event, so I don’t have to worry about that. I sent Bush his speaker. That got in the mail yesterday. Thanks everybody for doing that. Much appreciated.
Joe 1:07:27
There you go.
Matt 1:07:31
Sweet.
Podcast History, Gear Talk & What’s Next
Matt 1:07:32
Alright. So we got anything else we want to chat about before we get out of here? 400 episodes. I still can’t believe it.
Dan 1:07:38
Yeah, it’s pretty wild.
Matt 1:07:40
Yeah, pretty wild.
Dan 1:07:41
That’s like what eight years of doing it every week.
Matt 1:07:45
Yeah, the uh I have um if you look at the episodes and you did the full episode.
Jeremy 1:07:51
I was just looking at the very first episode date.
Matt 1:07:54
Yeah, it was uh page eight. That was May 21st of 2019. Wow. Seven years ago. Crazy. It’s crazy. Yeah, seven and a half years ago most. Yeah, I’ve got the milestone episodes marked off too on there. You go through each page. This is on the full episode list. So if if uh you’re on the website and you go to those pages, you’ll see there’s little asterisks like on 9 30 of 2020. There’s a double asterisk, you go to the bottom, it’ll say, That’s when Jeremy joined the show.
Joe 1:08:31
Yep.
Matt 1:08:33
Then Joe was uh July 29th of 2020.
Dan 1:08:38
Let’s see, when real recent 2020, what, four? July 29. When was Dan? I think I was 2024.
Matt 1:08:53
Oh, there it is right there. Uh August of 23. Oh, 23. Okay. Three years.
Dan 1:08:59
Yeah, I got my three-year anniversary.
Matt 1:09:02
Got your three-year badge. Let’s go. Congrats. Let’s go. Thanks, Chris. Thanks, Adrian. Appreciate it. Today’s my anniversary.
Jeremy 1:09:12
Tomorrow’s my anniversary, I think.
Matt 1:09:14
Tomorrow?
Jeremy 1:09:15
Your real anniversary? No, no, no. 9 30, 2020. Oh, this year anniversary.
Matt 1:09:21
There you go. No shit. Look at that. Wow. We did Mitch talked about Mitch’s revenge. Yep. Soon, soon all those episodes will be linked so you can listen to them on the pod on the website, but uh they are all on Buzz Sprout. So if you go to our BuzzSpot Buzz Sprout page or iTunes, you can uh listen to all the episodes that go way back. Eventually, I’ll get them all linked. It’s just it’s time consuming, and I’ve been doing a lot on the site. I just brought over all my review articles from the breakfast ball slash 1440 golf. Um thanks much. Hashtag Joe Not Here. Um, so if you go on the uh the article side on the Chasing the Ebate website in the top right, there’s articles you’ll see 1440 golf, there’s flaw take off, flow takeolf. Um, that’s where Shane will put, and we’ve got some other people that are gonna start writing on their articles. But you can see all the reviews that I wrote um for the breakfast ball slash 1440 golf. Um, I brought all those over, those websites will be shutting down eventually. Um, I still have some of the ones that Tim did from a couple years ago that I’m gonna move over, and maybe a few of the little editorial pieces that I wrote, some of the fun posts that I had. So um, yeah, check those out. It’s a new home for all that stuff. Anything new coming in? I got uh one of those LM1, I can’t remember who shot scope, the range, the uh launch monitor. Um, they’re sending one of those. I’m gonna do a review on that. That’ll be a CvP site. Um, and as uh new gear comes out for Callaway, I’ll I’ll start putting stuff on there. I know we did a video last year that got a lot of traction when the quantum came out. My boss was in San Diego this past week, and he told us new stuff is stupid good.
Jeremy 1:11:28
So yeah, maybe I’ll reach out to Scottie Cameron and see if I can do a review on a 009 or something.
Joe 1:11:34
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dan 1:11:37
Yeah, Steve’s got an extra uh circle T Napa format out there hanging out there. Yeah, when I seen that, I seen that. The one tomorrow shit. Could you tomorrow?
Jeremy 1:11:49
You gotta enter for tomorrow. Hit the camera weekly giveaway. Giveaway, but here you have a chance to spend five grand on a putter and you have an hour to decide. The weekly yeah, no, I wish.
Matt 1:12:09
Could you putt with that, Dan? Would would you putt with it? I mean, that’s a it wasn’t a rare version of that, but like a Scotty Cameron.
Dan 1:12:18
If if I had like a regular Napa and then had and keep that circle T, like you know, as in the trophy case, I would do that. I’d rock a regular Napa for sure.
Matt 1:12:26
You could putt with it, no problem. Oh yeah, with that much toe hang.
Dan 1:12:30
Oh yeah. Yeah, I wrote I rolled I rolled it for four years in high school in 8802. Oh, you did. I was I played the best golf of my life with my life with that 8802.
Matt 1:12:39
That rife picture that I showed you. I I forgot I sent that to Ricky because he was getting specs on it because we were gonna try and do one. Um so I sent him a message. I’m like, hey, is this still laying around the shop? Because yeah, I think so. I’m like, well, send that back to me.
Jeremy 1:12:54
Something about those putters, they just like blades. Like when you when you strike a blade, it’s no better feeling. Yeah, it’s just uh just a timeless classic look about them.
Matt 1:13:06
Yeah, that Damascus putter, I am loving. Oh my goodness, that was a good pickup for sure.
Dan 1:13:12
Yeah, that thing is sick.
Matt 1:13:13
I got I got some really good Scotchbrite wheels and cleaned it up even more. Just buff it out. Oh god, I love that thing.
SPEAKER_00 1:13:23
Oh yeah, love it.
Matt 1:13:27
Not even a premium scriber. Who’s this hitting green guy?
Dan 1:13:30
Lame almost landed.
Matt 1:13:34
Somebody having fun. That’s not Joe. Well, you know, that is three Theo, so maybe that is him.
Dan 1:13:40
Yeah, I think it could be Joe. The golf is throwing me off.
Matt 1:13:45
Yeah, that’s he would never do that. But you never know. It could be.
Dan 1:13:52
Joe, if that’s really you.
Matt 1:13:54
Oh, get what’s a trivia question.
Jeremy 1:13:57
If that’s really Joe, what hole did you cry on at Bandon Dunes?
Dan 1:14:02
Everybody knows that. That’s true. I was gonna say that could be that could be very public knowledge. Uh, what’s the name of the delicious market in a small city in Oregon? Let’s see if he if it’s we’ll see if it’s really Joe. He’ll know the name of this market. Not the old 80s market, but the one where we get them tacos.
Matt 1:14:33
He’s walking through the airport right now trying to answer.
Dan 1:14:36
He’s probably got running after two kids right now.
Matt 1:14:40
Uh off a plane, they’re probably wiped. They’ve had a long day. No, he’s not he’s not around. He’s not gonna answer, yeah. He’s busy. You’re a phony. We don’t believe you. Almost an imposter. All right, everybody. So um that will do it for this episode. Thank you so much for being here. We’re excited about 400. We’ve got 400 more coming. Ooh, another golden night’s goal. Uh, don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. Even when I start traveling, I’ll do this remote. We’ll make it happen. Um, but thank you so much for being here. If you have not signed up for a user account on the Chasing Daylight podcast, it’s not just to rate the courses in Vegas, it’s to join the community. Uh, we’re growing it. We want this thing to blow up. We want to get as many golfers that love what we do and love what we’re about and want to share their stories with us on that. Please sign up for it. It doesn’t cost anything. Um, it’s just a great way that we’re trying to connect our fans and people who listen to the show with golf. Um, so please check that out. We’ll be back next week. Uh, we’re gonna try and get Trey on the show to talk about the Midam. He was just there. Uh, we got some other interviews lined up. Like I said, Mike from Rose and Fire said he’d love to come on the show. And uh some good things are coming. And once we get done with the VGN, we’ll announce what’s gonna happen for our first event for the CDP. So you want stuff like this? It’s available in the merch store. This is the new CDP hat. We have those. We have some other versions, new gear. Thanks for those that have been purchasing it. We love your support, and uh, we’ll be back. Don’t take guns to the airport, Joe.
