The conversation centers on the next steps for Chasing Daylight’s community-powered golf resources. Whether you live in Southern Nevada or visit for a golf trip, the goal is better information from people who have played the courses.

More Detail in Vegas Golf Course Reports

The episode introduces updates to the course conditions hub, including free accounts for golfers submitting reports. Visitors can browse reports without registering, while contributor profiles add context to the people behind the ratings.

Those profiles can include a short biography and what’s in the bag. Matt also explains plans for participation badges and rewards as the reporting community grows.

Practice facilities get more attention, too. Reports can cover whether range balls are included, what they cost when purchased separately, their condition, and whether golfers warm up on grass or mats. Those details can help visitors understand what their round includes.

How Listener Course Rankings Work

The listener ranking system follows the show’s own scoring framework: 70 points for the golf course and 30 for the extras.

Participants can save individual course ratings and return later. Haven’t played a course? Mark it accordingly. Completing the process means accounting for every listed course, including those you haven’t played, before submitting your rankings.

That gives listeners a direct way to contribute to the conversation. If you disagree with the hosts’ opinions, you can put your own evaluations on the board.

Course Conditions Need Context

The discussion also revisits Wolf Creek and the strong reactions it generates. From there, the crew explores a broader issue: how golfers judge course conditions.

Dormancy, overseeding, irrigation challenges, and maintenance resources all feature in the conversation. The hosts argue for useful, specific feedback that recognizes seasonal changes while still describing the experience golfers paid for.

Fall golf in Las Vegas is another highlight, with the crew sharing why they look forward to October and November rounds.

Episode 398 also includes San Diego golf talk, a preview of the final VGN major at Coyote Springs, and a discussion of Callaway Mini Spinners.

Listen to the full episode, explore the Vegas course conditions hub, and visit Chasing Daylight’s website to contribute your Las Vegas golf course rankings. Your next report could help another golfer plan a better round.

Matt 0:25

Hey, welcome to the Tuesday night hangout. It’s the Chasing Daylight Podcast. What is up, everybody? How you being what is up? What is up?

Joe 0:35

What is up, everybody? What is up, everybody?

Matt 0:38

Thank you so much for hanging out with us. We really appreciate you being here. We have some things to talk about this evening, and we will do so. So uh we’ll get to it. Um, this is a golf podcast. If you’re tuning in, thank you so much for being here. We like to hop on every week, shoot the shit. Joe said this many years ago, and I love repeating it. We’re gonna do this anyways, might as well record it. And uh, for let’s see, almost 400 episodes later. Here we are. Here we are. So uh thanks if you’re tuning in on YouTube. We really appreciate it. Uh the episodes, I am now throwing them out on Wednesdays because I’ve been able to streamline the process a little bit.

Joe 1:24

So uh using AI.

Matt 1:27

Well, that’s helping, yeah, absolutely. I mean, it’s what it is, it’s helping me with the website. That’s that’s the big key thing. I mean, there’s I already hate it. Thanks for thanks for we we love the fact that you’re here hating on it wouldn’t be a show without the payment bashing. So uh no, yeah, AI is helping a lot, it’s it’s helping me streamline a lot of steps. Um, because you know, I we do the live here. Um, I have to edit the audio and put the audio out. Well, now that there’s you there’s videos now on uh Spotify and Apple, the video is now attached to the podcast, so uh I’ve always taken the audio and redone it, but the video takes it straight from the video feed. So now I have to edit the video to make it better for the podcast production. So uh a little bit of changes will happen with that. Um but then I you know I throw everything on the pot on the website, and that’s that’s a process, and you know it takes some time.

Joe 2:34

But I’m getting your mic like drought got lower for me. Did you change anything? Did it get lower for you, Dan?

Dan 2:41

Um, sounds about the same to me.

Joe 2:43

Oh shit.

Matt 2:44

Sorry, I’ll talk like that from now on the rest of the episode. No, this episode brought to you by municipal.

Dan 2:50

Eat that mic.

Matt 2:52

Yeah, no. Um, yeah, so the bunch of changes to the website. Uh, last week we talked about the Vegas

Vegas Course Reports: Profiles & New Features
Matt 3:00

course conditions, and uh that was it’s kind of fun. It’s kind of pretty cool. It’s pretty cool, it’s pretty cool. Uh, some people are seeing it. Um, you know, somebody played Reflection Bay uh the other day and like said it’s flawless.

Joe 3:22

Yeah, I mean, I don’t know.

Matt 3:23

I mean kind of biting my tongue on that one a little bit because it hasn’t been flawless for really do you see the user’s name that submits it? Yes. If they they don’t have to put in their first and last name, they you have to use an email address. So I have the email addresses, but I know who it was.

Joe 3:42

At if reflectionbay.com.

Matt 3:44

No, it wasn’t. I know who it was, and I you know, I we’ll see. I I’m eager to get out there now and play.

Joe 3:53

Well, it should be good. I mean, they redid that whole the whole greens, and I mean it’s taken a while, so hopefully it is good. I mean, I would love that forum.

Matt 4:01

It hasn’t been really good. It’s been good, it hasn’t been really good for a long time. So yeah, yeah, we’ll see, we’ll see if that is the case. But Pyu’s getting some love, coyote. People are you know being honest about coyote. It’s and and I said to from the beginning, this is not gonna be like a Facebook group where people just get on there and bash golf courses, you know. The the people that are leaving the reports for the course conditions can comment on it, but then that’s it. That I mean, there’s no back and forth, there’s no rebuttals, there’s no nothing. If you don’t believe them, go play it and find out for yourself. If you think they’re full of shit, go play it, find out for yourself, uh, and then leave a report. So um, yeah.

Joe 4:44

So curious, can you see like who who put who rated it? Because I mean, that might be if it you can’t, then that might be something where it could turn into like a social network where, like, hey, I trust this guy’s opinion, you know. So I’m gonna follow him and see what he’s played, and I trust his opinion on whatever.

Matt 5:01

So the biggest update that happened over the last 48 hours is you now have to register for a profile, right? So you can go anybody can go on and view the page and view the reports and what people think and and the ratings that it gives out for the courses and get all the information. That’s all free. Um, but if you want to submit a report, you have to create a user account, which it’s still free. But the reason I’m doing that is because we can now keep track of who is rating what. It’ll prevent people from multiple ratings over and over and over again to try and boost up a course or tear down a course. Um, we’re gonna have loyalty rewards for you know, uh, your first review, your tenth report or your tenth first report, your tenth report. Yeah, we’ll have badges for people to earn. Uh, you know, you’ve reported so many courses, and you know, like the big one will be you’ve played all the Vegas courses. You know, that’ll be like the the toughest badge to get clearly because so uh yeah, that’s that’s the biggest change. And you have a profile page now when you create that user account, and like I said, it’s free. Uh, but then you can go in and I’ve I’ve made it where you can have a little bio, you can tell a little bit about yourself, you can put your gin on there, and you can put uh what’s in the bag. So you know it’s it’s kind of a nice player profile where people can go and say, Hey, this person rated this. Let me let me check out his profile and see.

Joe 6:28

So and it’s his his bag is full of tour edge exotics. Yeah, you can judge them by what clubs they play.

Dan 6:35

Don’t listen to this guy. He plays Honama.

Matt 6:38

We had um Hack Daddy who’s on Instagram, he uh suggested um you know something that might be nice is if you put uh if range balls are included in the round, the conditions of the range ball and the range surface. I’m like, yeah, that’s a great idea. So I added that so you can you can say, hey, are range balls included for this price? Yes or no. If it’s a no, how much extra are they? Uh what are the conditions of the range balls? Are they you know trash or are they good? Yeah, and then is it a grass or a matte range? So that’s you know, for a lot of locals, they already know that, but for some people that that don’t, they they you know well, it’s really good for the visitors coming to Vegas.

Joe 7:20

I mean, it is a destination golf, you know, city. I mean, people come here, travel, play golf, so it’s great for great for those out-of-towners for sure.

Matt 7:29

Yeah, and uh we’ve got uh 30 30 courses have been reported on already, or 30 reports have been done over, I think 17 courses. So we’re getting there. And I mean a lot of clo courses are closed right now, you know. There’s a lot of out of it. So yeah, I think it opens up on Sunday. Um so yeah, the as we get into October, it’ll be a little bit more feature-rich because a lot more courses will be playable. So yeah.

Joe 8:03

So if you want to check that out, you can go to the Chase and Daylight Podcast website, check that out. If you’re coming to Vegas, great spot to check out. If you’re gonna play any golf while you’re visiting Vegas, shout out Vegas. Uh it’s a good spot, and it’s gonna only get better, too. So if you’ve played any golf courses recently, go to Chase Daylight Podcast uh website and sign up and and rate those courses so we all know and help golfers help golfers.

Listener Rankings: How the Scoring Works
Matt 8:27

Help help golfers help homies helping homies, all right? Yeah, all day. Um, another thing, and this is also exciting news. I activated the listener ranking page on the website now. Oh, so this is this is something that’s kind of big. And are we coming for that soon? Yeah, yeah, we are. It’s I mean, we did it at 300. So, you know, that was oh yeah, a hundred episodes ago, so that’s two years pretty much. Um, and we do it every two years, so we’ll probably do it come November.

Joe 9:00

Chewy, Chewy’s in the house. Shout out to Chewy.

Matt 9:04

Thanks for being here, brother. Uh, so what you can do now, and and I put a lot of thought into this, me and Jeremy have been collaborating back and forth on how we were gonna do it. Um, but you can there’s a uh on the top of the webpage, it says uh Vegas Rankings. So you click on that page and it gives you a description of what it is all about. Um, again, you have to create a user account. So if you have created a user account for rating course conditions, same user account. You don’t have to create another one. Um, you can click on the Vegas Rankings and it has a list of all the golf courses in alphabetical order, and there’s a progress chart. So hey, what’s up? Um so you tick, you take the first course, you open it up, and it’s the same point system that we use for our rankings. You know, it’s 70 points based on the course, 30 points based on the extras, and then each one is broken down, and you can fill it out and then hit you know save and it saves it. When it saves it, it turns it green, right? And your progress.

Joe 10:07

So if you’re if you’re in the chat, let us know if you’ve played golf in Las Vegas and where you played, or if you’re coming to Las Vegas where you want to play. If you’re in the chat, do that.

Matt 10:17

Um, the cool one of the cool features of this is if you have not played a course, click on it, and there’s a checkbox that says, I have not played this course, save it, it then turns it red, changes your progress. So um the good thing is you don’t have to do all 59 courses in one sit down because that’s going to take a while. With the user account and you logged in, you once you save a course, your status is saved. So you can do five, bounce out, come back in a week later, and catch up, you know, and do five more, bounce out in everything. So your rankings will not count until you have a 100% completion and you submit it. So um you can go back and edit it anytime up until the final I’m 100% complete, and I hit submit.

Joe 11:08

So well, there you go, PewPew.

Matt 11:11

Cool. It’s gonna let you know up to date for you guys for sometime next year. What everybody does. What Nori say just did a ranking for TPC Vegas. Thank you, sir. Much appreciated.

Joe 11:25

Played LBGC on the sixth and did a ranking on the new site. Thank you, Acosta. Thanks, Acosta.

Dan 11:31

Yeah, excuse me.

Joe 11:34

There he is right there. The showboat. Shout out Jordi. Hey, if you did not know, Jordy’s Jordy 4000. Jordi 4000 is a citizen of the playa.

Matt 11:46

He’s not playing coyote.

Joe 11:48

That’s because he’s probably still tearing down stuff at Black Rock City. Hey, come on, Juie. Bring it, bring it, Chewie.

SPEAKER_04 11:59

Yeah, absolutely.

Matt 12:02

We uh that that is live. I’m gonna start pushing that out on the socials so people can can get in and get it done because it it is a little time consuming. Um, it’s it’s you know, it takes a little while. And we have we’re doing our rankings this way as well, and I’ll have a separate data point for us. So um everybody’s gonna be doing it the same. And at any time I can select up to four submissions and compare them. So I mean it’s it’s the back end of it, it’s really cool. So uh if if you want to get involved with that, if you think um our rankings it’s trash, now’s your chance to prove us wrong. Submit it.

Joe 12:43

Yeah, awesome. Great idea.

Matt 12:46

Burning Man is a great festival. They need a golf course.

The Wolf Creek Debate
Dan 12:49

We got we got we got some pretty good responses our last uh our last question that came after us a little bit in the comics, yeah.

Matt 12:57

Like especially about Wolf Creek, especially about Wolf Creek, that seemed to be the number one.

Joe 13:02

The Wolf Creek fanboys do not like I I saw something the other week about Wolf Creek too. I mean it wolf creek is just a hot debate, like that’s just you know have you seen it recently?

Matt 13:15

Uh some guys are just out there and it’s it’s it’s dormant. It is oh yeah, it is light, light beige.

Joe 13:24

I did see some pictures pretty recently, and it looked pretty rough, but yeah. Uh I mean, like I always say, I mean, it’s uh it’s a character, it’s a it’s a video game golf. It’s uh you gotta play it once at least. You gotta you at least gotta get out there, but uh it’s not an everyday. But it’s an experience.

Matt 13:41

Lexington is looking good. Road hole drove by it today, getting all nice and green. Um gonna be different seeing that different grass and the fairway on some of those holes, but eager to get out there and check it out. Why do people absolutely love or hate Wolf Creek and zero people say it’s okay? Because it’s not okay.

Joe 14:02

That’s why it’s it’s exaggerated golf. It’s just exact it’s overly exaggerated. It’s it’s really it’s really cool, really fucking cool.

Matt 14:14

But it’s like you know, absolutely you’re gonna love it. If you don’t, you’re gonna hate it.

Joe 14:22

I think there’s a really in between there. It’s like Diet Coke and Coke Zero, like they almost taste the same, but you know, some people prefer the other and you know, hate the other, you know. So it’s just one of those things.

Matt 14:36

Do you see that Coke has a new label that they’re doing? It’s a it’s a triple Coke Triple Zero, it’s caffeine-free, sugar-free, whatever else free. But it’s like it’s like, well, isn’t that like caffeine-free Coke Zero? Why do you have to change the gold cans or the bronze? Black.

Joe 14:56

I don’t I don’t know why I think Pepsi is missing out. They need to bring back crystal Pepsi, they need to just bring that back.

Dan 15:03

Crystal Pepsi was a hit.

Joe 15:05

I mean, it it tastes the exact same as Pepsi, but like there was something about Crystal Pepsi, you know, like why is Pepsi not bringing Crystal Pepsi out in this day and age where retro is dope and people love retro shit?

Matt 15:18

Like Pepsi, you’re fucking up because some crystal influencer sued them. Didn’t it happen with Slice or something like that?

Joe 15:26

Oh, Slice. Well, they make probiotic drinks now, but yeah, orange slice back in the day with the black can with the orange, fire.

Matt 15:35

Joe, what’d you think of that uh new root beer uh AW from Ghost?

Joe 15:40

Oh man, yeah, it tasted very good. It did taste very good. Uh tasted like a root beer. I actually did have uh we we had uh Katie’s uncle was in town, so we went out gambling a bit. Uh we went to the I I haven’t I don’t drink soda, but I had a root beer at the bowling alley. Um yeah, I was I was struggling for like five days, just itching all day, all over, just straight up. I don’t know if it was that or I got those new mission tortillas, the chilupas. I saw them in the store and I fried them up and made like a chilupa. The only two things well, I I put on a new shirt. Um, it was either the new shirt, I didn’t wash it first, it was the chalupa fried, or it was the energy drink from Ghost.

Matt 16:27

But you blamed the energy drink, of course. Didn’t tell us about the other stuff.

Joe 16:31

No, it no, no. Well, the the first night I had the chilupa and it wasn’t bad. No, the the first night I had the chilupa and it wasn’t very bad. Like I had one spot, um, but the next day they were gone, and then for lunch I had a BH burrito and the and and the AW, probably the crabs, and then that night it full all the way down my back, just fucking hives, hives. You blame it. Which is funny drinking, yeah. It it exacerbated it, it opened up my blood vessels and just fucking just blew it all over. Exacerbated it. That’s a good one, but uh yeah, no, it was it was really good, it was tasty. I would love to try it with that. Uh, I saw that hack where you put the core power vanilla protein drink in it. That looked good. I might have to try that with just regular, regular root beer.

Matt 17:22

Yeah, I mean it it is fantastic. I I did that right away.

Joe 17:27

It was so I got I got anti-itch cream on my desk currently. I bought everything. I bought I bought ice packs, I got Allegra, I got Benadryl, I got all the itch creams you can get. I got Calamine Lotion, everything you could think of, and uh nothing helped. Nothing helped.

Matt 17:46

Uh Todd, did you go rank it? Did you go submit it uh on the on the website for the conditions? I’ve heard the um we’re gonna be there Thursday.

Dan 17:55

So greens are slick pristine. Oh, really?

Matt 18:00

Wow, phenomenal, phenomenal greens at the did you try being a man?

Joe 18:06

Yes, I did. I did I did not know. Here’s the thing I did not itch it one time.

Matt 18:14

It’s the funniest thing in the world.

Joe 18:16

I did not itch it one time, though, and that was the hardest part because it’s just you’re just anxiety ridden. You’re like that was the hardest part. I did not itch him. Fuck you, payment.

Matt 18:26

Remember the fleas episode from Seinfeld where he’s got bed bugs. He’s like, You itching lately? He’s like, no, and he looks in the room and room and goes, he’s back.

Joe 18:38

Seinfeld is just great, great TV, great TV there. Hey, Paul asks a question.

unknown 18:43

Look at that.

SPEAKER_03 18:44

That was I don’t know.

Matt 18:49

Oh, it’s Larry David picturing it right.

Joe 18:51

No, that’s David’s frame. It’s like it’s his grandfather. It’s the Lego. Oh, the apartment? Yeah, the apartment. Oh, that’s awesome. And it just sits on the desk. That’s fantastic.

Matt 19:04

Uh

Fall & Winter Golf in Las Vegas
Matt 19:05

so Paul asked, I’m new to the area and only played a handful of courses since March 1st. What kind of conditions am I looking at over the next five months?

SPEAKER_04 19:13

Really good golf.

Dan 19:14

Shout out to October, November, you’ll be good. Come December, conditions will firm up. It’ll be a little bit colder, but that’s about it.

Matt 19:22

October is the best golf month in the world in Vegas.

Joe 19:27

It’s just October and March, April. October’s the best, but yeah, March, April, too.

Matt 19:34

March, April can it used to be my favorite, but there’s so much wind now lately. It’s just insane. I am so I am so over the wind. Back in Vegas, Paul.

Joe 19:44

Got paint in the house.

Matt 19:48

Todd said, No, I just heard you guys talking about it. I’ll have to go on register. Awesome. Please do that. Please, we need as many, as many people doing reports as we can to grow that thing up. So I’ve heard it smells good. Damn it, man.

Joe 20:03

I mean, he’s not wrong. In areas, it does smell. Yeah. It’s not like Norco, it’s not like Norco, California, where it smells like manure, but no. Some areas.

Matt 20:14

Yeah, the cold here is not bad. You know, I I tell people in February I’ve played in shorts and I’ve also played in, you know, full parka, like I’m going snowboarding. Yeah. It’s hit or miss. You know, sometimes it’s fantastic, sometimes it’s a little chilly.

Joe 20:27

It’s all it’s all wind in the winter. If the wind is low, then you’re fine. But that wind to your bones.

Matt 20:35

Dude, I’m just, I mean, it was it was hot as hell at Legacy and the wind was blowing. And then at Spanish on Saturday, it was just windy as hell. And I’m like, man, I’m so just done with the wind. So just done with the wind. Thankfully, it’s calming down a little bit come Saturday. It’s not gonna go away, but it’s calming down. So we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes.

unknown 21:02

Okay.

Matt 21:02

Uh for those of you wondering where Jeremy is, um, he’s in Palm Springs. He played the Firing Sport at Desert Willow down there today, lit it up, shot a nice little 68. Playing well on in vacation.

Joe 21:17

Should have been a 62, should have been a 62, Jeremy.

Matt 21:20

But he had a bogey, so it wouldn’t have been a bogey for a 62. Yeah.

Joe 21:24

Close but no cigar.

Matt 21:26

Close but no cigar. Stopped in alley golf and was showing us some things, and I grabbed myself a putter um that I’ve been wanting for a really long time. That was kind of a you know, a good find. Uh so he’ll be back next week. Um and yeah, Palm Springs. Steven Jackson was just there too. He played I saw that, yeah. He played the mountain course, shot a what, a two under or something on the mountain course. So congrats to him. Also played Rams Hill. So those were crossing each other on the freeway as they were coming back from Vegas.

Joe 21:58

We need to go play Ladera. Need to get to Ladera.

Matt 22:01

There’s some gems down there that it’s private, isn’t it?

Joe 22:05

Super private, but super private.

Matt 22:07

Uber private.

Joe 22:07

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Keep your hopes up.

Dan 22:11

Hitchhike out in front of us. One of these days. There’s so much good private golf out there. It’s ridiculous.

Joe 22:16

There’s so much golf. Like the golf per capita is insane.

Dan 22:19

Yeah.

Joe 22:20

I mean, it’s higher than it’s higher than Phoenix Scottsdale.

Matt 22:23

I played the Springs, which is a private course that I never even heard of. And it’s like not in like the area with all the other golf courses. I mean, there’s a bunch of golf courses around it, of course, but and it was phenomenal. It was just damn good golf. So yeah.

Joe 22:40

If you can get master’s tickets, you can get on a private course.

Dan 22:46

That’d be sick if they if they had like one day where these sick private courses can do a lottery. You know, that would be awesome.

Joe 22:53

I mean, Mondays, a lot of some some private courses do Mondays, I know.

Matt 22:57

Yeah, they if they’re not closed. Yeah, and the SNG or Nevada Golf has you know outings at courses. Yeah. Is Canyon Gate even nice?

SPEAKER_04 23:07

Uh yeah, it’s nice.

Matt 23:08

It’s solid, yeah.

SPEAKER_04 23:10

It’s not bad. It’s a good course, good layout.

Joe 23:12

Sure. Nothing super special.

Matt 23:15

No, it’s it’s very old school evegasy. You know, it’s like uh fancy national.

Joe 23:22

Yeah, I get to that. Fancy national. Fancy national with a faith of the trees.

Matt 23:29

Yes, yes. I’m curious to see if that course comes back. Um I’m curious to see what shape Coyote’s gonna be in come Saturday. Because it’s been it’s been rough. Um Adam Simpson said he had some buddies that played in Mitches, and Trey and Jeremy played in it. And he and he said they he told his buddy told him it’s not in good shape, but really during Mitches? Yeah.

Joe 23:54

Hmm. So well the greens were quick though. They got the the greens quick for that, I’m sure.

Matt 24:00

Yeah, I mean, well, when we played it, the greens were quick, and that was two weeks prior, so payment wheel show with private courses.

Joe 24:11

Private courses grant you access for a spot on a wheel to win your master’s. Oh hey Randy, Randy in the house. NorCal definitely has some super nice courses. I mean, some of the best golf courses up there in NorCal. I mean, Monterey Peninsula, Pasa Tiempo, uh Yokadehi, which we want to get to, Northwood. Need to get to Northwood one of these days. Northwood, Olympics, so much up there. I mean, even just San Francisco, yeah. Olympic, San Fran Golf Club, fucking Crossito, TPC Harding Park. A lot, a lot, a lot up there. Shout out to Austin Bowers.

San Diego Golf Picks & Torrey Pines Costs
Matt 24:52

Boys, what are the San Diego gems? Might need to grab something in a few weeks.

Joe 24:56

San Diego Gems.

Matt 24:58

Um Dan would probably know more than I just know, you know, Tory.

Dan 25:03

Yeah, as far as public goes, yeah, that’s a tough one. I mean, honestly, Tory is probably the best public. Um, I mean, you gotta play the south course, it’s a U.S. Open course. The views, you have more water, more ocean views on the North Course. Um, I mean, if you could knock out 36 at Tory Pines, I’ve never done it. You might as well might as well do that. But um paper. Yeah, a lot of the a lot of the courses out there are private, but um Incinnitas Ranch is is cool. It’s a great back nine. You get up in the canyons. Um, if you go up to Carlsbad, you got Carlsbad Crossing. That’s up there. I’ve never played it, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. So those are a good couple good shows.

Matt 25:46

Now, so go tell go meet up with him and say, Hey. Oh, really? Yeah. Oh shit. We’ll have a connection there.

Joe 25:54

I do want to, yeah, uh shut out Tefajian in the house. Coronado is sick. I do want to play Coronado.

Dan 25:59

Never play Coronado.

Joe 26:00

I want to play Balboa Park, too.

Dan 26:03

Yep.

Joe 26:04

But also, if you’re in San Diego, I mean you could take the hour and a half drive over to Rams Hill, also. It’s not too bad, it’s kind of coyote-ish. Uh San Clemente Muni is a solid Muni if you can get a tea time, which it’s very difficult to do. But Pelican Hills nearby, right? Goat Hill for sure. Goat Hill’s always goathill’s always actually, Jordi. You would love Goat Hill. Go to Goat Hill, go play Goat Hill. It’s a vibe.

Matt 26:32

Go do the titles fitting in Oceanside there. At the tidalist facility.

Dan 26:38

Is that Twin Oaks place? Is that place private or is that the public? No idea. I don’t know. Never heard of that, I don’t think. It used to be one of the qualifying sites for the uh uh Buick Open when they used to host that at Tory on the Monday qualifiers. It was there, and I forget the other course, but yeah, I got a couple of those Monday qualifiers.

Joe 27:04

I did see a video recently about San Diego golf. Like uh I think I think the county or the city owned like leases or owns like 11 of the golf courses out there, and they’re like not making enough money, so they’re raising prices on everything because they’re losing significantly out on like the boom and the you know the revenue of what they could be making. So I saw I saw like a clip of like the city council talking about like raising prices in San Diego for golf. It’s happening everywhere, yeah. Everywhere golf’s expensive.

Matt 27:39

The uh water, there’s a big water thing going on. Um I was reading this article earlier saying that uh a Colorado golf course could lose its irrigation supply after its owners previously sold the associated water rights for four million dollars.

Dan 27:56

Oh my goodness.

Matt 27:58

Oh yeah. Uh after a uh a brutally dry European summer, some regions impose water restrictions affecting golf courses in Bavaria. One district went as far as banning golf course irrigation from tap ground and surface water, leaving courses dependent on stored water only.

Dan 28:14

Wow, yeah. In Bavaria? Yeah. So you’re this is we’re talking Germany?

Matt 28:21

Yeah, well, I mean, it’s happening all over the world with dry conditions, you know. Yeah, yeah, it’s a very dry summer for everybody. I mean, we deal with this every single day, but places like that.

Dan 28:30

Yeah, that’s not new to us, but yeah, I guess that makes sense.

Matt 28:33

Yeah, yeah. So they’re you know, what we’ve been dealing with for 10 years and struggling with, people are like they get one little bit of taste of it, and they’re like, Oh, the world’s coming to an end. Yeah, shut it down. Yeah, welcome to our shoes. You know, this is what we’ve been living in.

Joe 28:48

Uh Acosta, no surprise there. A $350 for green fees in San Diego sounds pretty normal, honestly.

Matt 28:54

Yeah, yeah. I mean, so many people, so little golf in comparison. I mean, there’s a ton of golf out in SoCal, but yeah.

Joe 29:03

What are some of the rates of the courses you just named? Just some average of those public courses.

Matt 29:09

Well, what’s Torrey South? Is it 300 now?

unknown 29:14

250.

Joe 29:15

I think I think I I think I looked at it recently. I think it was 280 because I I I requested like a tea time when I was just out there a few months ago. I think it was 270 or 280. Something right, I think. Uh I think we paid when we went out there, I think we paid like 230 or 240. But the residents of San Diego, if you have your card, it’s like 40-50 bucks. Yeah, the city card is huge.

Matt 29:41

Yeah, so Monday through Thursday, the South Course is 258 on the weekend, it’s 322. The North Course Monday through Thursday is 163, 204 on the weekends and holidays. Uh 156 is the south course twilight, 194 weekend. 97 is the north course during the week and 123 on the weekend. Says there’s also a $50 per player non-resident booking fee for Tori Pine, and that fee is separate from the green fees. Yeah, parts are also an extra $48.

Joe 30:18

We played north and south. It was like $600. It was like $600.

Matt 30:22

So $358 for the weekdays and $420 on the weekends. Insane.

Dan 30:29

But you really don’t need to, you don’t really don’t need to take a card out there. It’s no pretty, it’s a pretty $50 booking fee.

Matt 30:38

I didn’t know about that.

Joe 30:39

Yeah.

Matt 30:40

Wow.

Joe 30:42

Yeah. Wow. Big jump for the weekends. Lando says definitely would have to make the weekly rates. Yeah.

unknown 30:48

Yeah.

Matt 30:48

So if you’re looking for a weekend south course round as a non-local, you’re effectively looking at $372 to walk.

Joe 30:56

Plus, it’s also very hard to even get a tea time there. So like they’re busiest.

Dan 31:00

They’re busy as well.

Matt 31:01

And that course will kick you in the dick.

Joe 31:04

Yeah.

Matt 31:05

It’s not an easy golf course.

Joe 31:07

Yeah. The rough is uh pretty similar to Beth Page Black, which I’ve played.

Dan 31:13

No joke.

Joe 31:15

That shit’s thick. Yeah. And the North Course was the greens on the North Course and the South Course, very different. The greens on South were like slicky boys compared to North. And they were slick too.

Matt 31:31

Let’s see what it’s showing here.

Joe 31:33

That was a fun trip though. That was fun, yeah. I think that’s the last time I got like super slammered. Like that was just toast.

Dan 31:44

Yeah, you were that last night that we were dropped you off at the airport.

Joe 31:49

You were toasty. I was uh I don’t yeah, that was I was goner.

Matt 31:54

I was glad skinny dipping in the ocean.

Joe 31:57

Yeah, yes. I call my I call my mom. Hey, can you stay at the house for like three hours longer? We’re gonna change our flight. Uh it was a fun one though. Yeah, that’s cool.

PGA Tour Changes & Course Rotation Debate
Matt 32:11

Well, all right. Um, so in in golf, like worldwide golf news, um, some more details came out about the 28th season for the PGA tour where they’re going to the champion series and the challenger series. Apparently, uh 90 players are going to retain their status. 20 players will gain status from the challenger series. Um, so that makes up 110 players. Uh they typically say the fields are gonna be 120 players, 130 players will have their champion series tour card. So relegation is 100% in play now. Wow.

Dan 32:56

It’s gonna be different for sure.

Matt 32:58

We have a premier Premier League, you know, uh system now where you have the top tier, and then if you can’t maintain, you’re gonna get bumped down to the challenger series.

Joe 33:12

I’m really curious to see what golf courses they put in rotation.

Dan 33:17

That’s uh definitely gonna be it’s definitely gonna be interesting.

Matt 33:20

Yeah, because your basic, I mean, I know what is a 144 players typically in PGA tour now? Is that what it or no? It’s more than that. How many players are on the PGA tour? Uh let’s ask.

Dan 33:36

In the field?

Matt 33:38

No.

Dan 33:39

Isn’t it top 125?

Matt 33:41

Well, that’s that’s how many get through, but I don’t want to know how many total players are on the PGA tour. Oh, yeah. Let’s see. Uh 213 players with conditional status or better. So they’re dropping that by what um 213, 130. No, not that much. They’re they’re dropping 90 players, right? So roughly 90 players. So um, yeah, I mean it’s a it’s a chunk. Yeah, it’s a it’s a good chunk. But so those 90 players, they’re effectively now that’s a different tour.

Joe 34:22

Yeah, so it’s gonna be very interesting.

Matt 34:25

I don’t think they’re gonna play triple A ball. Yeah, I don’t think they’re gonna play Challenger series Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then Thursday afternoon start the wave of the champion series at the same golf course. So they’re I mean, they’re gonna be playing these events at different golf courses. They’re not gonna be, you know, because the week that the champion series is off, they’re gonna have the challenger series. The week that the challenger series is off, you’re gonna have the champion series, and maybe they run at the same time. I don’t know.

Joe 34:53

Yeah, that would be great if if the challenger tour aired Monday through Thursday, have golf every day of the week. That would they’re not gonna do that. I highly doubt they’d do that, but that would be smart.

Matt 35:03

Because you still have to have practice rounds, you still have to have you know travel time to get there, and and you know, you need the you need the week.

Joe 35:14

I mean, so would there be spots for Monday Qs too?

Matt 35:18

I mean, well, the Monday Q thing they’ve been talking about, probably not, right?

Dan 35:21

I think that’s yeah, I think that’s going bye-bye.

Matt 35:24

Yeah, yeah. Um it does suck, it completely sucks. Um, but I mean, like I say, and you take these other 90 players now that are gonna be in the challenger league, they they’re gonna have to find venues to play golf at. You know, it’s yeah, and and I really I really think this long-term contract with golf courses is gonna change. These sponsors and these courses that like you know, we have the ATT at Pebble Beach every single year, they’re locked into that for life. I can see companies that are you’re starting to see them change, and you know, like rocket mortgages or what a bunch that are going on.

Joe 36:04

I think I think the golf course like rotation is gonna get crazy swapped up, like yeah. I mean, like obviously love pebble beach, right? But it’s like we’ve seen it so many times that it’s like hey Pasa Tiempos up the road, or even even Poppy Hills, like the throw them at or Spanish Bay with the renovation, you know, like yeah, throw throw Olympic club back in, yeah, right there too.

Dan 36:32

Speaking of I mean, there’s so real quick. Did you guys see the little changes they did?

Matt 36:39

That where it was a tree on 16, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dan 36:44

That shoot’s gone now. I think that does not look better to me.

Joe 36:49

Unless that tree was like this or dying. They remove the tree in the middle.

Matt 36:53

Oh no, no, no, no, that’s on 18. So this is 16.

Joe 36:56

No, well, 16 has you can go right, right? There’s two trees that you gotta just shot through, and they took out the one on the right.

Matt 37:07

Looks a little different. Looks a little different. Justin Thomas was commenting on the post saying winner, of course, is gonna learn taking trees away does not make golf better.

Joe 37:15

Right, yeah.

Matt 37:17

Yeah,

Solheim Cup & Walker Cup Scheduling Discussion
Matt 37:18

but so we’ll see, we’ll see what happens with that. Um other news, did you see the debacle that the USGA and and whatever the governing bodies so the next Solheim Cup is the same weekend as the Walker Cup at Bandon?

Joe 37:40

Oh shit.

Matt 37:41

Yeah, so the Walker Cup at Bandon 28 is the same weekend as the Solheim Cup at Valhalla.

Joe 37:47

Oh wow, gonna go USGA.

Matt 37:50

Yeah, great, great.

Joe 37:52

Way to drop the ball. Dropping balls.

Matt 37:55

Yeah, yeah. Um says here the Solheim Cup at Valhalla and Walker Cup. I’ll be watching the banders scheduled for the exact same weekend, September 8th through 10th of 2028. Even crazier, the Curtis Cup is scheduled to finish only five days earlier.

Dan 38:10

They don’t have to say it’s like a year and a half until they change it. They’re gonna change it. They gotta move one of them. Yeah, that’s crazy.

Joe 38:20

They should just they just should just light up bandon, have them play one play Pacific Dunes, one play like OG or Trails, have them play trails and pack, and then just have all of it there. The infrastructure is not there for that, but that’d be cool.

SPEAKER_03 38:36

Yeah, it would be cool.

Dan 38:39

So Mike just have them at the same place.

Joe 38:42

Uh yeah, that would be dope. Pineurst two, and then Solheim on Pine Hurst 11 or something. Pinehurst 11, yeah. Fuck yeah. Jules, shout out. We got some Jules, shout out, Lando. Jules, phone finger. Sorry, Matt, I’m brother.

Matt 38:57

Mike from BGC just sent me a text. Um, he’s having a rough night at work, so he’s not gonna make it. He was gonna be here, but he’s doing the work that not a lot of people do.

Dan 39:06

So yeah, good luck. Good luck, Dr. Mike. Go save lives, brother.

Matt 39:11

Yeah, yeah, had a rough night.

Joe 39:13

So he’ll be on, he’ll be on. Don’t hit the vending machine too hard tonight, man. I know it’s but you know, we uh need the Oreos in there.

Fore Hadley Charity Golf Auction
Matt 39:21

Um we got uh four Hadley coming up soon. What up, Daddy? What’s up, brother?

Joe 39:26

Oh, yeah, that’s right.

Matt 39:27

Talk about that.

Joe 39:28

Hey, Ski Tech in the house. What a ski tech, shout out ski tech.

Matt 39:33

Thanks, guys. Much appreciated, much appreciated.

Joe 39:37

Yeah, so the four had the four Hadley thing is coming up, guys. So make sure you’re staying tuned for that episode. Mike will be on from beautiful golf courses. If you don’t follow beautiful golf courses on Instagram, you should go do that every year. Uh, they do a huge where you can. I know Nori was talking about playing private golf courses. This is a way to get on to private golf courses, bid on, and all of it goes to charity, the Four Hadley Foundation. Uh, that’s coming up soon. And we’ve played some private courses because we entered into the auction. And uh it’s a great way to do it. So, Nori, if you’re still here, you should make sure you check out that episode and uh go check out beautiful golf courses in Four Hadley. Every year they do it, and it’s a great way to get your game onto some private golf courses. Yeah, we had them too. Yeah, the gentleman that sick joints at Four Hadley Foundation.

Matt 40:27

We had him on with Mike talking about it. It’s an amazing, amazing charity, and what they do, it’s absolutely incredible. Um, you know, if you’ve ever had a situation where you had to spend some time in the hospital with your kids, um you will have nothing but respect for what this man does. It’s it’s incredible. It’s not just him, it’s his wife. I mean, it’s it’s a big thing, and it’s impressive. Absolutely impressive. So another news, did you see Tiger making golf swings again?

Dan 41:01

Yeah, I didn’t see that. Yeah, he’s got rain footage.

Matt 41:06

Yeah, hitting golf balls.

Dan 41:09

Hopefully he didn’t drive himself.

Matt 41:11

He’s hey, we can’t.

Dan 41:13

He can’t for five years, right?

Matt 41:15

Legally, he can’t. Oh what how funny would that be if he gets a driving without a license ticket? Oh believable. Oh, I like that, Nori. This is great. Did you guys deciding how to invest, how invest I was in golf, didn’t buy any bit anything this year? It’s go time. Love it.

Dan 41:37

Have

Golf Content, Skepticism & Online Critics
Dan 41:38

you guys seen the little riff raff going between uh uh looper talk and mac voucher?

Joe 41:43

I did not see that. I yeah, I saw yes, I saw Looper Talk say something, but I didn’t.

Dan 41:50

There’s there’s there is a beef going on between between those two. It’s interesting to watch. It’s interesting to watch.

Joe 42:00

Oh snap. Max Boucher and Lupertalk. I’m gonna have to watch those. Are they going back and forth on reels or what? Uh yeah.

Dan 42:10

So I guess, yeah, I guess they’ve had some run-ins in the past about honesty and is in Mac Boucher’s content. And I guess uh Lupertalk was kind of calling them out about a shot that he said he had from 235. And okay, I know you know, these these these you know, these influencer guys, they they’re not honest with you, you know, they do take after take. Yeah, and it’s it got rehashed, and all this stuff got rehashed in the last few days.

Joe 42:42

So I do remember, I do remember uh Lubertalk like going to the course and being like this T shot and he was breaking down the T’s and everything. Like he was here by this bunker, and yeah, funny. Yeah, yeah, all that’s getting rehashed and stuff, so it’s been pretty wild the last couple days.

Matt 43:02

We had we had somebody comment earlier today on the video, Joe, of you at Bandon um when the in the wind.

Joe 43:09

Yeah, you know that video, another one where it’s like, oh, it wasn’t 65.

Matt 43:14

Well, I said the the video is titled Bandon in Nearly 50 Mile an hour winds, and the comment was that’s not even close to 50.

SPEAKER_04 43:22

And it’s like Jesus Christ, you know?

Dan 43:27

Just a lot of miserable people out there, right?

Matt 43:29

You know, I I I told him, I said, Hey, you know what? Not a meteorologist, sure as hell felt like 50. We’ve played a lot of golf out there. We’ve played a lot of golf. Yeah. And uh, you know, thanks for slapping us on the wrist and putting us in timeout. But then I I was scrolling on TikTok the other day, and um I came across this guy, a it’s a b golf or something like that. Uh, he plays golf in Vegas and he’s was out at Wild Horse, and he’s like uh filming. He goes, I’m playing one of the toughest par threes in Vegas with me. And so he was on 14 or 15, 14 at Wild Horse. And you know, that’s the 240 yards. Yeah, long water right. It’s tight. And he hit a four iron. And somebody’s comment, no way that’s a four-iron. No way. No way you’re hitting 235 yards for the four iron. 200 maybe 210, maybe, but no way you’re hitting it 235. I’m like, why why do you why is that so unbelievable? I mean, good look, and it’s a good damn good swing. You know, it’s it’s like what what makes you feel better saying that?

Dan 44:44

I yeah, like I said, it’s it’s people who can’t people who can’t do usually the ones the first to trip about it, you know.

Matt 44:51

Yeah, I I it blows me away because you know, maybe 10-15 years ago, I would have thought that’s insane, but then I play with Dan, Jeremy, Trey, Julian, who could do that in their sleep, you know? Yeah, so it’s it’s crazy.

Joe 45:10

Yeah, I mean it I mean that’s the thing with every video or every post or anything, you can find holes in it or find a way to argue it, but you know, those that I don’t know, I’m trying to find those that try do and those that do try. I don’t I don’t know if that’s the right terminology, but you know, some people are gonna fake it, some people are gonna fake it, and some people are gonna do it. So, I mean, pick your battles.

Dan 45:36

You’re all good, Mike.

Joe 45:38

Yeah, you’re good. I mean, payment can scroll a 60-degree 200 yards, and I believe that because I’ve seen somebody do that. Oh my lord, I’ve seen somebody do that, and almost kill people. Yeah, there you go. Always try to uplift players, not shoot them down. Some peeps just don’t get it. Absolutely, Randy.

Matt 46:00

You know,

Wildhorse, Dormancy & Fair Course Reviews
Matt 46:01

I just don’t get it. And then, well, then there was it’s a viral Vegas account, they’re trying to make a name for themselves, I guess, because they only had like 40 followers.

Joe 46:08

Yeah, that’s one of those things, man.

Matt 46:10

Well, they commented uh about Wild shock value, absolute trash, worst golf course in Vegas, they don’t care about it, worst conditions, blah blah blah. And I I wrote, you know, simply not true what you’re saying. Not true, they absolutely care, they just have no fucking money.

Joe 46:27

Yeah, we should do that. We should do a video at Wild Horse and say most pristine golf course in Vegas. It’s so pure, and let’s go play and just hype it up.

Matt 46:36

Best conditions in Vegas, hands down.

Joe 46:38

So much hype, so much hate.

Matt 46:40

We’ll say Henderson, just to hate all people really do, bro. Oh so funny. Vegas golfers are toxic. Yeah, yeah, there we go. And that’s public. Because I I hate opening up Facebook because you know, I I I have to go on socials, I have to. In order for us to grow as a podcast, I have to be involved with the social media stuff. Um not a big, not a big Facebook fan, but there is a massive community of golfers on uh Facebook, and so I like going on there and seeing some of the comments, but dude, it’s just everybody just talks shit about every golf course. And it’s like, I swear to god, if some of these people could get on Shadow Creek, they would have shitty things to say about Shadow Creek, yeah.

Joe 47:35

Like nobody, nobody I think that’s a lot of the issue, too, is like it’s a lot of golfers that don’t know about like seasonality or dormancy, you know. Like we’ve had, you know, like I don’t call courses dead anymore, which I used to. We call them dormant, you know.

Matt 47:52

Darden educated us on that, yeah.

Joe 47:54

Darden educated us, and it’s it’s education, and you know, it is what it is. I mean, but you know, limited by money, resources, uh, all that shit. Not every when I like I was mad when I first started playing golf, not everything looks like Augusta, like I want to play the Augusta uh course, you know, and then it’s like you get mad if it’s not if it doesn’t look pristine, but you know, golf is changes, there’s conditions, weather, you know, turf, you know.

Matt 48:26

Uh how about time of year hottest summers on record?

Joe 48:30

Yeah, true.

Matt 48:31

In a in a drought where water restrictions are in play. You know, those people that went to agronomy school to become greenskeepers that that wasn’t in the syllabus. I guarantee you, they did not have all right, we’re gonna spend the next two weeks preparing you for the hottest summer on record with water restrictions and fines, you know.

Joe 48:52

Right, yeah, yeah, restricted by water and resources, man. I mean, they do what they can, and they obviously don’t want to deliver like a bad uh experience for you, they’re doing what they can, you know. Shout out the greenskeepers, stop hating on the greenskeepers, they’re the ones putting the pins out there for you, honestly. Seriously, shout out, shout out has your hack.

Matt 49:14

Yeah, yeah. Let’s see, Rob’s on here. Are we talking about national? No, we’re talking about wild horse. BGC heard you guys talking about Bootcher walking out like him. He’s a bit sensitive with the comments. Rob said great can current condition. Hey Rob, I don’t know if you saw it. Go check out the website, go check out Chasing Daylight Podcast, do the course conditions, get on it. Joe said Shadow Creek sucks. Uh Grant’s got an event October 10th of Wild Horse. He heard the conditions are gonna be Augusta like, yeah. Augusta I mean public links, not uh Augusta National.

Joe 49:54

I’ve I mean I’ve seen I’ve seen Wild Horse Augusta Jason.

Matt 49:59

I mean, pre like 2018, it wild horse was you should have seen it back in the 90s when it was green as there wasn’t a brown spot on that golf course, everything was green and lush.

Dan 50:11

Bro, there was not a bad golf course back here in the 90s. Yeah, that’s right.

Joe 50:15

That’s why everything was in such good condition, everything was when it came to town here. I was like, holy shit. Lake Mead has a fucking wall of white stone on the side.

Matt 50:25

No, not Nebraska Wild Horse. We would never talk bad about that course because we haven’t played it. Yeah, I would play needs to come out to Vegas and not play some bougie golf. We need to take him to some ghetto golf, yeah.

Dan 50:42

Yeah, North Las Vegas part three.

Matt 50:44

Get up there and wild horse.

Joe 50:47

Get some get some culture in the boy and national, national wild horse Vegas part North Las Vegas part three.

Matt 50:53

It’ll start a new account.

Joe 50:54

Maybe and Club at Sunrise, Club at Sunrise.

Matt 50:56

Yeah, yeah. It’ll start a new account called Not So Beautiful Golf Courses. Could have been beautiful golf courses, but no.

Joe 51:08

Doable golf courses.

Matt 51:09

Yeah, there you go.

Joe 51:12

You can do golf on these, they’re doable. Doable golf courses. You can play, yeah.

Matt 51:17

Doable golf courses. Oh 105 is generous, too. I think what what I miss there. What I miss her, what I miss her.

Joe 51:30

I’m assuming that’s oh ended up shooting a 105.

Matt 51:34

Where was that at?

Joe 51:36

Northwood.

Dan 51:39

Northwood. I don’t know. Okay.

Matt 51:43

All

Final VGN Major, Trophies & Sticker Archives
Matt 51:44

right. So um anything else going on? Are you guys looking forward to our final major ever?

Joe 51:51

Ever. Ever it is.

Matt 51:54

Eva Eva. It’s kind of crazy.

Dan 51:57

Yeah, it is.

Matt 52:02

Right?

Joe 52:03

Little little are you gonna are you gonna do a PowerPoint of like past, present, and future?

SPEAKER_03 52:08

No.

Joe 52:08

You should do a PowerPoint presentation.

SPEAKER_03 52:11

Matt 55:05

Oh, I found a gym the other day. I I didn’t realize I this is an old cigar box that I had on the shelf, and I opened it up and I’m like, oh my goodness, look at look at these. Found a whole stack of these.

Dan 55:20

Uh-oh. Rat fart. Oh, I need some. I need some of those rat fart stickers.

Matt 55:24

I got a whole stack of those. I I found a stack of these. Yeah. Yeah. There’s another one in here that’s different.

Joe 55:34

If you guys are new here, our logo changes every month or so.

Matt 55:40

I’m trying to not do that anymore. Uh, but these were the the breakfast ball when I changed the the branding on the breakfast ball. That’s the firebag. Yeah, yeah.

unknown 55:51

Yeah.

Matt 55:53

And then I found a bunch of hit and green ones.

Dan 55:57

Matt, have you seen the Callaway Hollows? I haven’t done those in a long time. Have you seen the there’s this this company called Clubhouse? They’re out of Japan. They’re on Instagram, but they did like a Callaway mashup, and they brought like some of the old school S2H2 logos back and stuff like that. Yeah, next time I saw those. Yeah, next time I see it, I’ll I’ll send you the link.

SPEAKER_03 56:23

Check out this one.

Dan 56:25

Yeah, man.

Joe 56:27

Yeah, this is a good time.

Matt 56:30

I got like five of those, right? Yeah, I got the last down right here. Look at a little S hit. That’s the sawgrass. Yeah. Uh on that. Joe, look at you’re gonna love these. Yeah.

Dan 56:45

Dan 56:59

Oh shit. Oh shit, Joe. That glue’s six years old, bro. That’s crazy. Yeah, yeah.

Joe 57:06

I try and keep one of every sticker.

Matt 57:11

Three limited hollows.

Joe 57:13

I mean, I can make them again, but I just haven’t in a long time.

Matt 57:16

They won’t be as valuable. What’s in here?

Joe 57:20

Oh, these are shout out the dude.

Matt 57:23

Hollow Old Breakfast Ball. BBGB. And I got old breakfast ball magnets. Good heavens.

SPEAKER_03 57:31

Damn. Yeah.

Matt 57:32

Found all kinds of shit in this thing. But the rat farts. I’m like, oh my god, I totally forgot about rat farts. It’s like a time capsule. Yeah. Shout out Mikey B. Mikey Buschino did that.

Dan 57:44

Yeah.

Matt 57:44

Oh, he made those stickers for you?

Dan 57:46

Yeah, well, he did the artwork. I haven’t seen that guy in a minute.

Joe 57:49

Yeah, he’s kind of disappeared. He’s traveling a lot. I don’t, I mean, I haven’t talked to him in a while, but he’s traveling a bunch.

Matt 57:58

Yeah, shout out 398.

SPEAKER_00 58:00

Woohoo! 1738. Yeah, baby.

Dan 58:05

Beds too. Yeah, take your eye out now. Yeah. Take your eye out, Joe. There you go.

SPEAKER_00 58:12

1738. 1738.

Matt 58:16

The brand just perpetually evolves. Yeah, baby. See if that ever showed up.

Dan 58:30

Oh fucking shout out, Fetty Wap.

Matt 58:34

There they are. Okay, I can add them now. So open this up. Here we go. There’s the here’s what the trophies would look like.

Dan 58:42

Yeah, same. Oh, okay. Yeah. I’d love to have one of those. Hell yeah. Did Beds make those?

Matt 58:49

No, no. This is the uh scratch sign. Um but he’s also doing our major trophies, and the major trophies are gonna be 3D. They’re gonna have the Joker logo in 3D with player of the year on it. It’s sweet. It’s gonna be sick. Yeah, gonna be sick, so yeah.

Dan 59:08

Hopefully, I’ll take one for the collection. Oh man, god 16. Sweet 16.

Matt 59:15

To have one, kill to have one.

Joe 59:18

I only have two. I only want to have two. Uh-oh. Tiebreaker.

Matt 59:24

Yeah. And you’re ahead of me in the points. Nice. Penalize you point. Never gonna pay. Never gonna pay. Just enough to not get in and let me get in. Sorry, Joe, you missed out by one spot. Bam, those penalties for not paying on time.

Joe 59:43

Uh can I can I can I throw as a board member, can I say any original um uh VGN members from the first year can get into the finals without having to be in there to play golf?

Matt 1:00:00

Well, this is what happens every year because we have 15 spots per flight, right? We have 15 spots per flight. And there’s always people back out. Yeah, always a conflict. So I’m always looking to fill spots. So um maybe we’ll see.

Joe 1:00:16

Unresolved.

Legacy Conditions, Fall Golf & Turf Talk
Matt 1:00:18

I get the first exemption, so just commissioner’s exemption. Exactly. Well, hey, so like we’re playing the finals at Legacy, and Legacy is you know, it’s in rough shape right now because they decided not to try to bring the course back just to shut it down for overseed. So it’s been plain dormant for a while.

Dan 1:00:45

Well on with no hard R.

Matt 1:00:48

No hard R.

Dan 1:00:50

Hard AHS.

Matt 1:00:51

There is some green ass grass downrange at Legacy, like where you hit your range balls to it. Is it like emerald vibrant green? So gusta like that was exciting to see because you know, most places they could care less about the grass on the range. I mean, a lot of people are ripping out grass and putting in dirt, and right. Um, so it was it was nice to see what is potentially forthcoming. Right. I I mean I hope it can come back. They’ve gone through so much shit, and God bless them for trying like hell to get it back. It it just sucks when courses just get beat like this, you know, with one problem after another. And they’re trying like hell. I mean, Revere has dumped a shit ton of money into their irrigation system. Um, and that’s that’s what stuff that goes on behind the scenes that a lot of people don’t realize, you know. And it’s it’s really easy to hop on Facebook and go, fuck this place, I’m never coming back, shitty conditions, you know. Yeah, when they they just don’t know what’s going on, so yeah, yeah.

Joe 1:02:02

I mean, they’ve been dealt some tough cards, that’s for sure.

Matt 1:02:06

Yeah, Kyle, the fall golf here is amazing. Absolutely amazing. Yeah, it’s October. You it’s impossible to have a bad day of golf in October.

Joe 1:02:18

It’s just I mean, even most of November, too.

Matt 1:02:21

Yeah, oh yeah. Well, it’s getting got pushed back this year, so we’re gonna have phenomenal November golf.

Joe 1:02:27

Yeah.

Dan 1:02:28

Oh yeah. Yeah, Kyle, I think Kyle lives up north too, doesn’t he? Isn’t he up in the Reno area? Reno area, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So get the local rate, just flash that Nevada ID.

Joe 1:02:39

Yeah, there you go. True that save you some gouda.

Matt 1:02:44

Why do why don’t courses get fake grass for the range cost too much?

Joe 1:02:49

Well, Chimera tried to do that, right? Yeah, and it just the balls get stained and get beat up, they get beat up and leave marks on your ball, on your clubs, and we need an influx of money and somebody just create like a par three astroturf golf course.

Matt 1:03:07

I want somebody to just drill, baby drill, and just keep finding water tables. There’s gotta be water down there somewhere. Get the guys from Oak Island. Like, look, the treasure is water in Vegas. Go find it, right? Go find it.

Joe 1:03:24

Just gotta show Nevada ID, Kyle.

Matt 1:03:26

Yeah, yeah, Kyle.

Dan 1:03:29

They don’t look at your address, bro. They just make see that Nevada on top and boom. Get the right.

Matt 1:03:35

And are you uh you’re in the silver state Nevada Golf member up there? Are you because it used to be the Northern Nevada Golf Association, it’s now Nevada Golf. Did you are you a member of that? You get your gin through that because then you can play events down here too. Yeah, I need to get down here.

SPEAKER_04 1:03:53

Absolutely, absolutely.

Joe 1:03:55

Yeah, the the new tobacco road par three is all turf, like BGC says, and it looks sick, too. Yeah, and it’s built into like the the pines, and I want to get back to the tobacco road.

Matt 1:04:08

You go you you think all turf is is fun. Go to go to pop stroke on in June and July and walk around. Yeah, it’s true.

Joe 1:04:17

Yeah, yeah.

Matt 1:04:18

You’ll be like, okay, this is why they don’t do all turf. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I have to put a fan on my feet when I’m putting out back in August.

Joe 1:04:28

Hey, Coach Porch in the house. Shout out, Coach Porch. I’m gonna be in Coach Porch’s area next weekend. Oh hit that comment. Nevada, I got it, I got it.

Matt 1:04:43

Oh, just go go to nevadagolf.org and uh you can find a club in your area, get your gin for 35 bucks or 40 bucks, whatever it is, and then you’re a member and you can play in north and south NGS, uh NGA events.

Joe 1:04:57

So yeah, and you definitely cook in July on turf for sure. You feel it. Right, it radiates, radiates. Oh yeah.

Matt 1:05:08

All right,

Cup Recap & Callaway Mini Spinners
Matt 1:05:09

we got anything else? Anything else anybody wants to cover? We didn’t talk about the Solheim Cup, it was kind of depressing, but yeah, much like the Walker Cup.

Dan 1:05:18

USA couldn’t handle the last day.

Matt 1:05:20

Wait, the Ryder Cup, Walker Cup, Solheim Cup. We’re 0 for three on cups right now.

Dan 1:05:25

When’s the President’s Cup? Wait, two weeks. So there’s one, there’s one we’ll probably win. That we have a history have a good history of winning the President’s Cup, but we’ll see.

Matt 1:05:36

Where are they playing that at? Uh we just talked about Canada. No, it’s in what was it, Minnesota? No, not Minnesota. It was uh Chicago or Illinois. Yeah, Medina.

Joe 1:05:48

Yeah, oh Medina, okay. Yeah.

Dan 1:05:53

Yeah, interesting. Medina.

Matt 1:05:56

Yeah, not a whole lot of golf news, but there’s a shit out there. Hey, I uh I don’t know if I talked about this last week, but the as far as equipment stuff goes, the the new spinners from Callaway, the mini spinners, the 7, 9, and 11 wood. Dude, it’s like we’re like a hundred percent, we’re like a hundred percent on converting people if they hit it. It’s it’s stupid how much people are doing it.

SPEAKER_04 1:06:25

Yeah, absolutely, company man.

Joe 1:06:27

Does good goods play those or no? Not anymore. Isn’t it isn’t it funny how like that like just went away too?

Matt 1:06:38

Well hey so we’ve had of course five five fitting events since that went on I have not had one person mention it at all. Like not with the oh how’s Callaway doing or you know jab joking around like nothing nobody has said anything. I haven’t had anybody come up and spit on me. I haven’t had anybody you know just like okay calloway you know none of that it’s just it’s so manufactured.

Dan 1:07:08

Oh yeah like I said the only people in uproar about that were fucking feminists and non-golfers they were the only people who I gave a shit about that.

Matt 1:07:15

Other than that 99% of us didn’t give a fuck I don’t want I don’t want to get too off topic here but have you seen that video where it shows um now we’ll do it later. Never mind I’ll tell you guys I don’t want to get into that it’s yeah all right here we go thank you the dude uh how’s a royal looking haven’t played it it’s but if you have played it go to the Vegas Course conditions page on the Chasing Daylight podcast and leave a report so a person like the dude 702 will know what’s I say why GT final was I haven’t watched all of it I watched a little like the first 10 minutes I need to watch that though yeah I I I have to finish the second episode and I’m almost done with the second episode then I gotta watch the final yeah I think I think I finished that one was that the Dan was that the where they played match play the last one that was uh Rams Hill right so yeah Rams Hill I started it but I didn’t see it you see uh uh I don’t know you oh you didn’t see uh Steven’s scorecard from Rams Hill but he birdied the same three holes on the back nine that I did it was like I’m like oh thanks now you’re just you know easy holes easy holes easy holes easy holes handicap yeah I watch handicapped 18 17 and 16 all on the back all on the back yeah so uh let’s see what’s this what might say we were chatting about the crazy new callaway wood you told me what they’re called and now I can’t find that discussion spinner spinners mini spinners spinners mini spinners get you a callaway spinner it’s they’re so good this is going to be the next like copied golf club so good everybody everybody’s gonna be coming out with a shorter a shorter deeper face more spin fair we would it’s go get you a spinner go get you a spinner both spinners the callaway club and the little one what made what makes the spinner a spinner Matt it’s a spinner I don’t know Joey I I think if you hit the seven wood you would love it because it is it is special dude I tell you what’s special ever since I bought my triple diamond i that thing’s changed my whole view on seven woods right I mean I have been thinking about getting a seven wood because my three iron I just can’t hit it no more like change shafts twice and it’s just not it doesn’t do the same thing it used to if we didn’t have fittings on Saturday because Julian’s work in Aliante I would bring it but you’ll have to maybe swing by some place where we’re gonna be at recently and check it out. Yes coach yeah the the name is not fantastic but it’s been in Japan for like the last four or five years it’s wildly popular on the LPGA tour. So many women played these clubs and um starting to see why I mean it wow wow and it it looks like a a traditional fairway wood that you would have seen you know seven eight years ago it’s it’s got a deeper face it it it doesn’t look like these thin aerodynamic fairway wood you’re seeing nowadays it’s it’s it looks like a golf club that you want to hit you have the it has comes in a 17 degree now right uh it’s no seven nine and eleven so 21 24 28 I think I saw I saw a picture of a 17 degree maybe that was like a tour ahead tour head or something maybe yeah we just have there’s no five just seven nine and eleven yeah there’s uh they’re so easy to hit too it’s it’s it’s a cheater it’s absolutely a cheater club yes they are all right thanks everybody for tuning in real quick before you talk before we leave away too we want to give away yeah we’ll give away all the stickers but um I saw a post today uh you guys remember when um the black knight was up against the the wall at uh the old course you remember that very famous footage yeah on the road hole where he was up against the wall not when he banked it off but he wouldn’t when he was right next to it I saw like a post today and uh they were going um because he putted it up onto the green but he moved a shit ton of dirt on his practice swing oh no and they were they were talking about like today like with video review that would have been called cheating for sure because improving your line all that shit but it because you were talking about it’s a cheat code i that just made me think of that but in the video evidence you can clearly see like dirt fucking fly behind so the black knight I don’t know cheater lip cheater I guess I don’t know but I saw that today he’s a very controversial man he is that is the giveaway oh an upside down chasing daylight sticker legends never die sticker hit and greens halo one of three legends never die sticker breakfast ball halo sticker breakfast ball fireback sticker chasing daylight one of one and I’ll even throw in a CDP ball marker there you go all that that’s that’s the giveaway it’s a good haul good little sticker if you haven’t left a comment do it now and then uh yeah I’m gonna pull in a second do do do do do do but if you have not done so please like and subscribe the show uh check out Gars and Goff use code daylight15 to check out uh save yourself some money on some dope ass putter grips Gars and golf uh want that get off my screen get off my screen and then uh hopefully uh you’re playing in the major the vegan major this weekend at Coyote Springs uh here you go we’re gonna pull it leave your leave your leave your comment now if you have pre-rigged pre-rigged pre-rigged pee pew P pew Pew pew PPU are you here he’s not a super chat I don’t think he’s his I don’t think he’s a subscriber he’s not a super chatter you got 49 seconds no PPU is solid but I don’t know he’s gonna be here two for three forty five six for seven forty forty nine he’s toast bye bye PPU sorry sorry PPU he was in my whatnot show and he’s like I’ll be there and he didn’t hang out the whole time but Robbie Bob O Chapo Bobbo Chapo he’s here he’s lurking oh he’s here he’s a he’s a subscriber so he’s lurking so winner winner all right all that stuff is in the bag I’m putting it right over here with Mr.
