1:14:20 Vegas Course Conditions Recap
In Episode 397, Matt introduces the new Las Vegas Golf Course Conditions hub, designed to give Southern Nevada golfers — and anyone planning a Las Vegas golf trip — a better idea of what they’re getting before booking a tee time.
Instead of digging through Facebook groups or hoping someone has recently played a course, golfers can now submit actual reports after their rounds. The system tracks green conditions, fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, green fees, pace of play, cart restrictions and maintenance issues. It also includes overseeding information and prioritizes newer reports so golfers can quickly find the freshest information available.
The idea becomes especially valuable during Las Vegas overseeding season, when course closures, cart-path-only restrictions, freshly reopened turf and maintenance schedules can dramatically affect a round.
And Then There’s Slow Play
Course conditions weren’t Matt’s only frustration this week.
After back-to-back experiences with painfully slow groups at Boulder Creek and Rhodes Ranch, the conversation turns into a full-blown pace-of-play debate. The guys discuss golfers who aren’t ready when it’s their turn, players waiting for shots they realistically can’t hit, ineffective course marshals and whether golf courses need stronger consequences for groups that fall badly behind.
From there, Episode 397 jumps into the rising cost of Las Vegas golf and whether additional cart or water fees could eventually become normal before shifting to the bigger stories around professional golf.
The guys react to LIV Golf’s Chapter 11 news, discuss what a potential LIV 2.0 could look like, revisit the Walker Cup, preview the Irish Open and look ahead to an incredible collection of future Walker Cup venues.
Before signing off, there’s also some love for Harry Hall, who finished near the top of the leaderboard at the Omega European Masters.
For Vegas golfers, though, the biggest takeaway is simple: check the course conditions before you book — and submit a report after you play.

Matt 0:19
Dude, we are so close to four hundred. It’s like it’s like right over there. It’s really close. It’s it’s so close.
Dan 0:27
Yeah.
Matt 0:28
400 episodes is coming, and we’re gonna give away a golf bag.
Joe 0:31
Yep.
Matt 0:32
So if you guys have not entered the contest, you still got a couple weeks left. Head over to our social media page on Instagram, Chasing Daylight Podcast. And there’s a pinned post, and you can figure out how you can enter and win. Um, a lot of people don’t need a bag. That’s okay. That’s okay. We’re gonna find somebody that needs it and give it away.
Joe 0:53
So also sell it if you don’t need it.
Matt 0:56
Yeah, well, yeah. But uh this is episode 397, so we got on a wheel 398 next week, 399, and then four bills. So uh plenty of time to get in it, and if you want to share that, hey, please do. We we uh love it when everybody shares our stuff. So how y’all doing this evening?
Jeremy 1:22
Doing great. How about yourselves?
Matt 1:25
Doing pretty damn good, man.
Jeremy 1:26
You had a busy day, dude. Man, always, but for today busy day, busy day.
Matt 1:36
So I did I did something this afternoon. Okay, I’m pretty freaking excited about it. I just sent a version of it over to Trey and showed him, and he went, oh man, that’s awesome. So um, we don’t need a bag, just want the bag asking for a friend for storage, storage purposes um coming to a whatnot show near you.
Joe 2:02
Yeah, I got pants in the house.
Matt 2:05
So
New Vegas Golf Course Conditions Hub
Matt 2:06
one thing that’s always frustrating is there there’s a lot of Lot Vegas communities on Facebook, and most of them are just people complaining about conditions. That’s that’s yeah, a lot of just and Dan, you know, you see it.
Dan 2:22
It’s just no, I was people I was complaining too.
Matt 2:25
Yeah, yeah, it’s annoying. Um there’s there’s not a lot. There are some websites out there that you can uh greenskeeper.org is one of them where you can get uh yeah force conditions. Um but I said, you know what, let’s let’s do one just for Vegas. So uh I reached out to our good friends at Chat GPT and said, Hey, you want to help me design this? And they’re like, sure, let’s do it. So um I will show you what I did today, and uh it’s it’s pretty freaking amazing. I’m pretty happy with it. Oh wow, it’s it’s come out really good, Jeremy. You saw a short version of it and uh liked what you saw.
Jeremy 3:11
Matt’s over here eliminating software engineering jobs single-handed. Yeah, yeah. What the hell, man?
Joe 3:17
Just kill it. I know who likes taking jobs away. You like taking jobs?
Matt 3:22
For those of you listening listening to this right now, uh, head over to YouTube so you can watch and and and see what’s going on. Um bring it up. Let’s go. All right, so oh the crutch in the house.
Joe 3:41
Shout out the crutch.
Matt 3:43
Here, here’s the chasing daylight website, right? The main here, let me do this so everybody can see it a little bit better. All right. Uh all right, and so on the website, I now have uh up here right at the top, Vegas Course Conditions. And if you click on that, it’s gonna take you to this page, uh Southern Nevada Golf Course Conditions. And I have the overseas schedule for the courses with the dates that it’s all taking place and when it ends, yada yada yada. But here’s the cool thing. Uh you can also go in after you play a course, you can search for the course up top here, or just scroll down, right? Uh, so we were recently out at Coyote Springs. Uh, so it’s I rated that right here, and you can click on view the course report, and it takes you to the page, tells you what I thought of the greens, the fairways, the tea boxes, the bunkers, what we paid, the pace, what I play again at that price, and the date that this was done.
Dan 4:53
Uh-oh. You can also leave notes. Did I see a 5-3 at Rose Ranch? Was that your rating? Yeah. Oh shit. Let’s let’s dive into that.
SPEAKER_01 5:04
Oh, you don’t want to do. Oh, dude.
What Happened at Rhodes Ranch?
Matt 5:07
So but this is open, this is open to anybody. Anybody can go on here. So if you’re a Vegas local or if you’re traveling to Vegas and you play, if you go on here, and there’s also uh you can leave photos and a comment that just has to get moderated. So, but the it’s basically, you know, like it says on here, paid 72 bucks. It was a local rate. Uh, the pace was four hours and ten. It was light traffic. There wasn’t a ton of traffic out there, there’s no cart restrictions. The greens were 10, the barriers were six, T’s were five, bunkers and eight. Uh, you know, course is in rough shape right now, not sure what’s going on, but never looked or played this badly in a long time, etc. etc. So yeah, so that is there on on the Vegas Golf Network, or not the Vegas one, the Chasing Daylight podcast website. Um report you’re around.
Joe 5:51
Look at this guy.
Matt 5:52
Yeah, isn’t that pretty much?
Joe 5:56
That’s really good. That’s really good. How much time did it take, too?
Matt 5:59
Yeah. Uh about because let’s see, there’s seven versions of the plugin that it built. Um, and I’m just being nitpicky now with you know, trying to make sure everything looks good. Um and yeah, about three hours probably.
Jeremy 6:18
So I texted Matt this morning at like pretty solid, like 10. I said, Hey Matt, you want to go to Revere and hit balls? And then he texted me, check their website, they’re doing overseeding, and then I think that’s when he started.
SPEAKER_01 6:31
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Matt 6:35
There’s there’s some nice, really well.
Joe 6:37
Yeah, nice.
Matt 6:38
It’s it’s a source, it’s where people can go. And the good thing is, I don’t know if you saw I’ll bring it back up, maybe not, but there’s uh it recent, and then there’s fresh, and it’s it’s like if it’s within the last 24-48 hours, it’ll say fresh, it’ll say recent, or it’ll say old, and uh yeah, it’s and it updates that as new ones come in, it goes to the top, and then that the page, the information will the newest information will always be on top. So sin city fairways, he was in city fairways.
Joe 7:09
I love this.
Dan 7:10
That’s sick, dude.
Matt 7:11
It’s a great idea. Uh so Kyle, he’s got a comment here. Um, yeah, you gotta say it right. It’s comma fuckers. Uh there is fuckers, it’s fuck us. My bad. Uh there’s some publications that put out those that information, and then I for the ones I haven’t verified everything. I’m gonna, you know, the ones that I updated, I know exactly which what it is. Um, but I have I can go in and add that information without somebody having to rank the course. So if you if you pull up to a course and it’s closed for overseating, you didn’t see down there, just shoot me a message and I’ll I can fix it. So I’m trying to make it personally reimburse your tea time.
Jeremy 7:57
Yeah, it’s guaranteed. It is guaranteed.
Matt 8:02
But no, there’s there’s a lot of you know, it you don’t know where you’re getting valid information on. So I it’s a it’s a great place for you know, if you’re completely ticked off with a round of golf you just played, go write about it. If you’re like thrilled with the course conditions, go write about it. And you know, hopefully we can get, you know, instead of having a uh you know, a Facebook page that you have to be get approved to post, and then your post. I saw one today. This guy’s like, Hey, I’m uh trying to do a golf meetup at Top Golf next Thursday, August 6th, and it posted today because a moderator just approved it. And it’s like, seriously, you wait a month to approve somebody’s post. So this, yeah, you know, it’s I think it’s a gonna be a good valuable source. Yeah, I think it’s good. Yeah, trying to turn the CDP podcast website into a lot more than just a podcast website. You know, we got Las Vegas golf hub, yeah.
Jeremy 8:58
And so the rankings, whenever however that song goes.
Matt 9:04
The the rankings thing is coming that will be separate from this. This is mate basic course conditions. This is information for people who are thinking about coming to Vegas, they can look and see you know what people have said in the past, whatever. Uh, and then you know, looking out for your your homies, right? Looking out for your homies. Hey, you don’t want to go play roads ranch right now. Well, it’s closed because overseas, but yeah, past weekend, you did not want to go play roads ranch. Yeah, what happened? Yeah, I’ve never seen crabgrass on greens before.
Joe 9:37
Well, I’m curious because since it let me, I’m gonna text him and see if he’s that’s crazy because like two months ago, I a lot of people were saying it was in great shape. Yeah, I mean, most of the time you know crab getting at roads, roads can take over quick, too.
Matt 9:51
Thick, lush, rough, soft, true rolling greens that are in good shape. Yeah, uh shitty range balls, but I mean, you you know what you’re getting, and I was expecting that and got some of that, but the uh yeah, the greens. I mean, some of them are okay, but man, there was a couple times where I I could not get my ball to stop moving when I was setting it down to putt because it was just in a pile of crabgrass. It was it was so weird.
Joe 10:18
Well, I know I know uh Cincinnati Fairways Tyler just was out there for that fairway fox tournament.
Dan 10:24
Yeah, Vic and Matt Matt, Big Matt won it. Oh, yeah, that’s right. The sanchise sanchise won’t be.
Joe 10:29
Yeah, the sanchise rigged again. Wow, again, right? Again, and wins again.
Dan 10:34
Yeah, let me go get Big Matt real quick.
Matt 10:36
Uh see Vic says greens are not looking green.
Joe 10:42
No, I saw a video and I was like, Oh, interesting. As I haven’t been to Rhodes in a while.
Matt 10:47
Yeah, I was I was you know hoping they would, but you know what? Hey, you get everybody had to put on, and it wasn’t just me, so it is what it is.
Joe 10:56
True, yeah, it is what it is, but but it’s also that time of the year, too. Like everything’s not looking the best, you know, unless you go to Piot.
Jeremy 11:03
I mean it seems significantly worse this year, though. I know that the weather was like intense for like a month straight, but yeah, it was pretty bad. It seems like it’s worse than normal.
Matt 11:14
Yeah, the national was not good.
Jeremy 11:18
Is weird, someone sabotaged the water. It really does seem like it’s like different. Yeah, hey, shout out Trace. Thank you, Trace.
Matt 11:30
T Dog, T Dog. So I expect everybody that follows the show that is a local that plays golf, just you know, make a a shortcut on your phone next to your gen app that uh after you post your score, you just tap right next to it and go give that a go.
Joe 11:50
The more people I think it can help out a lot of people if like people get in engaged and do that, like it’s gonna help a lot of people, and you know, because we all everybody in town were like, Hey, have you played this recently? How how is it? And if it’s a one-stop shop, I mean, like that’s cool.
Jeremy 12:06
And I mean, Joe, you used to use Instagram to find course conditions when you a few years ago, like this that’s why I started hitting greens, that’s why I started doing it.
Matt 12:16
Yep, so yeah, if if uh on there there’s a course that doesn’t show it’s in overseeding, either they don’t or I don’t have the valid information. Like I said, I’m gonna be confirming some of that. Um, I’ve got almost all the golf course contacts, so it’s gonna be easy for me to update that information. And you know, Julian and I are out there every weekend, and we know we see the courses, we know what’s going on, and I’ll be able to update that and provide people with you know a little bit more information. But it’s cool because if somebody like the greens were sanded, it’ll pop up with like a little warning like hey, recently, you know, this is a fresh review, the greens were sanded, and it’s it’s a great way. I I think it’s gonna be pretty damn cool.
Dan 13:00
So I think so too. I think it’s a great idea. I swear.
Matt 13:03
Yeah, well, thank you very much.
Dan 13:05
Well done, well done, sir.
Matt 13:06
Aside from that, what’s going on in the golf world for you guys?
Dan 13:12
Not much really right now. You know, I’ve just got uh personally personally, I haven’t been playing any real any golf. Just been kind of working, but looking forward to uh Kyoto.
Joe 13:27
No, no, you’re good. I’m yeah, you’re good. We’re good. I’m just waiting. I’m just payments on whatnot. I bought the first ball, so like I’m waiting, but I do have a video of payment failed that you guys are gonna have to see. He’s he he sent me a video uh this morning, me and Hesher Hack. And I think you guys are gonna really like it.
Matt 13:50
Yeah, thanks, Nori. Uh yeah, love to hear it.
Jeremy 13:55
Yeah, that’d be great.
Matt 13:59
I always hate when you pay $90 for a round here in Reno, especially, and get there, and the greens have been punched. Yep. Yep, I think the worst.
Joe 14:05
Yeah, that’s always the worst.
Matt 14:07
That’s that’s I mean, carpath only is not the the worst. I don’t hate carpaths. Unless you play Bent Tree in Iowa, yeah, that’s the worst carpath-only golf course on planet Earth.
Joe 14:19
I would argue that Revere is the worst. Lexington would be bad, or or even Concord is probably the worst.
Matt 14:25
Yeah, they’re those aren’t great either. Yeah, Concord, at least when they come off of overseed on that course, it’s gonna be rough and carpath only. So you’ll be able to get a little bit closer.
Joe 14:36
True, that, yeah. He’s giving away a giraffe. Oh, yeah, Odyssey, yeah, giraffe beam long neck seven.
unknown 14:46
There you go.
Dan 14:47
Do you get your choice of that or the that copper plate?
Joe 14:50
I I can’t hear anything because I gotta turn down as much as I can because we’re all doing the podcast. Shout out Chase the Daylight Podcast live every Tuesday night. Shout out. That’s funny. Uh I also hey I wish you could split Bluetooth between two years, like a DJ.
Matt 15:08
I want to uh give these guys.
Jeremy 15:11
Yeah, I gotta hear about these.
Matt 15:13
How they
Full Turn Golf Nutrition
Matt 15:14
be a uh golf nutrition bar, 20 grams of protein, 260 calories, six grams of fiber. Uh Zach the Zach Corbin, founder, reached out and sent us to a nice little came in a nice little packet, a little business card ball marker in here. Uh, you know what? It it not bad. Not bad. I you know, you you kind of get stuck in a rut with protein bars and protein shakes. It’s nice having a little bit of variety out there. The vanilla one I liked a little bit better than the peanut butter cacao one, but uh or cacao, however the hell you say that word, cacao. I think it’s cacao. Is it cacao? Okay, uh the vanilla one was really good. It’s it’s a great, great protein bar. So uh check them out. Uh link in the show notes. Yeah, it’s called full turn. They’re on they’re on the socials, and uh you know, you know, explore it, maybe see what’s up.
Joe 16:14
Palmetto in the house. Shut up, Palmetto.
Matt 16:17
PGC’s on whatnot.
Joe 16:21
I’m talking to somebody in the chat. Don’t worry about it. You’re good.
Matt 16:25
You’re not doing the chat, so I’m trying to pay attention because that’s I am doing the chat.
Joe 16:29
That was me that posted that.
Matt 16:31
Yeah, one job.
Joe 16:31
I am doing the chat. That’s why that’s why I did that.
Matt 16:37
Oh yeah, so uh
TheGrint Event & The Slow Play Disaster
Matt 16:40
talk about roads. This was another Grint event, and um you’re in typical golf at roads fashion. You know, they don’t give you the keys to the car until it’s your time to drive up to the T-Box.
Joe 16:53
News flash. I did not win. I did not win. News flash. Okay, we’re good. We’re good. Told him to told him to raid the podcast. He did not do it. What a dick. What a dick. Jesus fucking loser. What a loser. He almost killed me. He almost killed me, you know, and the least he could do is raid the pod.
Matt 17:13
But so we had we were supposed to go off at 7 57 and 8 07. We’re still sitting in our carts waiting for the guy to come give us the key. He finally comes, gives us the key, and and he says, Hey, just want to let you know the superintendent and some friends is in the group in front of you. He kind of plays pretty quick, but the group in front of them is notoriously slow. Shit. Awesome, awesome, notoriously slow, and you’re already 10 minutes late. We’re 10 minutes late. We pull up to the T-box. The group in front of us just hit, and the group is still on the team as they’re waiting to hit their approach shots as we’re waiting to tee off. It it was it was bad. And I have a slow play rant that I yeah, slow pace. Let it out.
Joe 18:03
Let it out. Let it out. Go for it. Um slow pace rant in your heart. Let it out. The worst. So this you got a vent. You got a vent.
Matt 18:13
This has happened the last two rounds of golf that I played. It happened to me, Julian, out uh at uh Boulder Creek. Um it was so disappointing because that course is so much fun to play, and you have people in front of you that just are oblivious. They’re just oblivious, just absolutely oblivious. Um, there was a three-ball in front of us, and um there was one guy that was in for us to go, and every shot he had his phone out in his hand, and he’s looking down at his phone. Every shot. So I I’m assuming it was a GPS, or he was really engaged in a conversation that he just could not look away from.
Joe 19:00
Um but we’re so probably on whatnot.
Matt 19:05
Yeah, we’re on we’re on the coyote run, uh, the par five that’s downhill, the downhill par five, right? The the big one. Um they tee off because we’re waiting on the tee for them to tee off. They tee off. Not one of them hit the ball over 200 yards, not one. And they’re playing the the white tease, right? Should be playing the red tees, but they’re playing the white tease. Uh you know, that down that down hit, it goes downhill and then there’s it dips and it comes back up. So they didn’t make it to the dip part where it all runs right off to the side. They were 40 yards in front of the bunker ball, right? So then they hit that shot. All right, so we’re like, okay, we think we can tee off. So we tee off, hit our balls, go down there, and uh now we’re waiting for them to hit their approach shots. And of course, they have to wait for the green to clear. He’s looking at his phone, looking at his phone, looking at his phone 250 hours, goes goes over to his cart, comes back, grabs another club, looks at his cart, or looks at his phone, okay, hits a shot, and it goes nowhere, right? Doesn’t make it to the green, of course, right? They drive 40 feet, and a guy pops out and goes through the same routine. And I was just like, dude, go get your number while you’re waiting. Go get your number while you’re waiting. What are you doing just sitting there? And oh, so none of them, none of the good three were anywhere remotely close to the green, right? So we’re sitting there, I hit my layup, we had wind in our face, right? Hit my layup, and so now I’m sitting there and we’re watching them. And this they, you know, the cart path is on the far left. They get out of their cart, walk over, and he’s got this, he’s maybe I don’t know, five yards, five, ten yards off the front of the green. And he’s sitting there and he’s looking down at his phone. He looks at his club, looks at his phone, sets his phone down, sets the club down, walks all the way back over to his cart, and we’re we’re standing in the fairway waiting, right? Walks all the way back over to his cart, grabs another club, comes back, picks his phone back up, looking at his phone again. We can’t be doing that, hits his chip shot, right? 30 feet right of the pin, nowhere even close to the chip shot, and then three putts, right?
Joe 21:32
And so he’s a stick, he’s a stick, yeah.
Matt 21:36
He’s a stick. So uh big Rich was with us. Me and him are riding together.
Joe 21:41
Oh, shout out Rich.
Matt 21:43
Yeah, so Rich had hit his approach shot, his second shot, right, and it’s up on the hill between the the eight T box and the seven green. And so as they come around the corner and they get out, and so me and him are out looking for his ball and I see dude standing on the T-box looking at his phone. Right? Looking at his phone, looking at his phone. I’m like, God, what is this guy doing? Right? Oh, bubbles in the house. We just got some jewels. Oh, oh, it’s the jewels bubble. Iron lights going off. Uh so Rich takes a drop, hits his ball. We drive around. I hit my shot. We were playing with Eric, one of the Taylor made fitters. Julian left. He he couldn’t, he had somewhere to be, so he had to leave. So Eric hits his chip shot. I hit my chip shot. Rich makes his putt. Eric makes his putt. I make my putt. We get in the carts, we drive around. They still haven’t left the T-box.
Joe 22:44
Nuts. Get out of here.
Matt 22:46
I’m like, there was nobody on the green. You know, and it’s just and then this happened at Rhodes with that group that was the the superintendent. You know, the so it was and it was on a par five. We’re on on 15. You know, the you reach the top of the hill, then it dips down. So they were on the top of the hill, and and uh I think we were I was playing with Kyle Shane and Greg Paulson. Steven Jackson was in our group and he left because he he was having a bad day. He’s like, I’m I’m done with this. This is ridiculous. Oh wow. And uh so we’re I’m like, they’re like 260 out right now, right? And he’s like, Yeah, I said, dude hasn’t hit the ball 30 feet off the ground all day. What what are they what are they waiting for? And so you can see the green, and there’s the the group that is super slow on the green, and they’re just standing there forever, and then they finally leave, and I’m like, okay, let’s see what happens, bullet right, nowhere near the green, right? I’m like, Jesus, they drive 20 feet, dude. Gets out, goes through his whole routine.
Joe 23:58
This is crazy.
Matt 23:59
Fuck. Oh, dude, it was not us, Vic. It was not us at all. I was in the first group and I waited on every shot 10 minutes.
Dan 24:10
That’s terrible. Yeah, it you haven’t sold me on planning any grant tour events so far. Yeah, not yet.
Matt 24:16
I don’t know what was happening behind us because I I left afterwards, but I don’t know what was happening behind us, but they were 10 minutes behind, and the groups they put out in front of us were the worst groups to have out in front.
Jeremy 24:31
So you guys should have been like the first tea time, but they had those two groups out ahead of you, right?
Joe 24:36
Yeah, well, we were 757, so they had several two hours of play almost before I think it’s I mean, it’s a whole this is a whole issue with the entire world for the most part. Like self-awareness has really declined in all aspects of life, yeah. In all aspects of life over the past, I mean, maybe before covet, maybe before that, but I don’t know. But a lot of self-awareness has disappeared from the selves of the people that should be aware, you know what I mean?
Dan 25:12
Like tinfoil handtime, yeah.
Joe 25:15
I mean tinfoil hat time, I don’t know, but um, yeah, like nobody cares if you suck a golf, just suck fast, pause, but do it faster.
Golf Courses Need Better Marshals
Matt 25:26
This is where you know the golf courses I think could really help golf by actually doing like actually marshalling, actually marshalling because they’re not, they’re not, they’re not, and I and I don’t understand why. You know, my favorite marshal in all of Vegas is the handlebar dude out at Las Vegas National, hand on his hip, just drives the car path, and has never said a word to anybody ever that I know of.
Jeremy 25:58
Does he look for balls in all the ponds?
Matt 26:00
Uh no, I I that would be something.
Dan 26:04
What was that starter’s name out there that gave us attitude? Oh, yeah, that’s what I was thinking about.
Joe 26:08
That would be Dylan. Yeah, Dylan. Dylan. That’s Dylan lasted. Yeah, Dylan’s gone, probably.
Jeremy 26:14
Oh, yeah, he’s delivering for dominoes.
Matt 26:17
Yeah, too. Just step up, just step up and and look. Hey, look, guys, I don’t know what’s taking so long, but you’re taking way too long. So I need you to pick it up, or you’re gonna have to skip a hole, or you’re gonna have to wait for an opening, which could be three hours. Pick, right?
Jeremy 26:35
Yeah, it’s it’s just really bad. It’s bad. Nobody’s gonna be able to do it.
Joe 26:40
The worst part of all, honestly. Yeah, I mean, even if you got a good marshall, like nobody’s going up to a group and being like, Y’all need to pick it up, or I’m gonna whoop you, you know, I’m gonna beach rap. Yes, you know, like what’s the consequence? What’s the consequences?
Matt 26:54
You gotta pick it up, I’m gonna fuck you up. We have your name on file from when you played, and if you don’t pick it up, we’re gonna, you know, put notes on that, yeah, premium tea times you’re not gonna be able to book anymore. Simple as that.
Joe 27:10
Speaking of people that probably play really slow, payments here. I thought he was gonna rate us, but uh, here you go. You want to see the oh no. Oh look at this fucking video right here. Woke up to that. Payment failed with the HG head cover. He he I don’t think he’s ever talked to play highway golf, yeah. And he fucking hits the berm. The the well, of course he does.
Matt 27:36
Yeah, there’s not enough loft on that. He’s not a golfer.
Joe 27:39
He’s not a golfer, bro.
Matt 27:40
He’s not a golfer, bro.
Joe 27:41
He sells like and it bounced back.
Dan 27:47
I wish I would have seen that.
Joe 27:49
Did he post that? No, he sent it to me and Hesher Hack in a message, and I said I told Will Hesher Hack, I was like, Hey, just so you know, this guy’s a little crazy. He almost killed nobody smoked my girlfriend.
Jeremy 28:04
Dude, Kyle, two and a half hours to walk a nine-hole par three. That is what that’s terrible.
Dan 28:10
It took my son and wow, wow, dude.
Joe 28:14
I I just don’t it’s like this is why Zach Blair, his whole thing where slow players must leave the property, like Zach Blair, the block, the buck club, like brilliant. More that those head covers should be in every pro shop. Yes, and you should be asked to leave the property.
Matt 28:31
If you’re playing at one o’clock in the afternoon and there’s nobody behind you, take as many shots as you want. I don’t care. I could care less if you shoot 175, you lost two dozen golf balls, and you drank 30 beers. I don’t care, but when there’s a group behind you waiting, speed the fuck up when nobody’s in front of you.
Jeremy 28:54
I just yeah, I think what they should do is all the premium times, like morning times and all that. When you when you get the tea time, you have to agree to play in a certain amount of time. And if you don’t, then they have the right to kick you off the court.
Joe 29:09
Yeah, well, we’ve talked about it before. I mean, golf licenses, you
Golf Licenses & Ready Golf
Joe 29:13
know.
Matt 29:13
Yeah, I was gonna just gonna go there. Yeah, we’ve talked about it before Germany to the states and start imposing golf licenses licenses, you know. Hey, you want to you want to book a uh 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 tea time on a Saturday? You better have a grade A golf license, otherwise, it’s not happening.
Joe 29:33
Yeah, I mean, it’s it’s crazy. Like, I mean, just like our whole situation at Bandon when we played Sheep Ranch. Oh, yeah, yeah, that took walking the golf course. We finished in 320, was it? I can’t remember. Yeah, like three, but then you’re three groups behind us.
Dan 29:52
Yeah, and we had shots 20, remember, and we were two groups, two groups behind you.
Joe 29:58
It was a group of things. We probably kept pace because of the hole in one. There, we probably kept pace because the hole in one, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01 30:04
Let’s go. What? Let’s go.
Jeremy 30:08
And you got you didn’t even finish, Matt. You couldn’t take it anymore. And it was they were like five hours.
Matt 30:13
The other the other rest of the group sick, not feeling good, and I’m like, I love this last stretch of holes. Maybe the only part of she like, and I was like, I’m done. Going back to the the room and crashing.
Joe 30:27
Yeah, well, he got sick too, so a little under the weather.
Dan 30:30
Suck fast, that’s right. Exactly, exactly. Man, Mr.
Joe 30:34
Powers, exactly. Mr. Powers, just suck fast.
Jeremy 30:38
God, definitely need a t-shirt of that. Probably some context with it, but definitely a t-shirt.
Matt 30:43
This is the thing. If you if you learn how to properly play ready golf, never push, then you don’t have to suck fast, you can just suck, and you’re gonna play fast enough.
Joe 30:58
You know, I don’t I don’t think it’s any of that. It’s like, hey, like people looking for their balls when it’s like way out, like, hey, just drop. You’re not good enough to like be like, hey, you know, I’m fucking I’m I’m about to win the tournament today, you know. Like, especially if playing with your homies, like, hey, that’s out, dog. Just drop here, hit next to me. I’ve done it plenty of times. I don’t want to even hit you. I want to say you know, if you’re suffering for three or four dollar ball, like yeah, no, maybe maybe a hundred dollar moon ball, but yeah, like everybody.
Matt 31:32
Well, I don’t want it’s not I’m you know, I’m I’m closer, he’s further out. It’s his turn. I okay, sometimes okay, I get that, but you know whose turn it is next after you hit your ball? It’s your fucking turn. Go to your ball and be ready to hit your ball. It’s your turn to hit your ball. Nobody else is gonna hit your ball. Now there may be another guy that’s gonna hit before you hit your ball, gonna hit his ball, but it’s your turn to hit your ball after you hit it. Go get to your ball and prepare to hit it.
Jeremy 32:00
I paid the same amount as everyone else.
Matt 32:02
Oh, screw those guys. I hate that shit.
Joe 32:05
Uh no, uh jump out the cart, go grab your range finder, go to your ball, be good. Walk back. It’s like I gotta help you look. I mean, I don’t, I mean, you should help your partner look for their body. At some point, it’s like, hey, dude, I’m gonna go self-awareness. This is just it’s all everything that we’re talking about comes back to self-awareness, which a lot of the population has lost in the entire world, yeah. Self-awareness, self-awareness, yeah.
Matt 32:39
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy walking the course. I get to the ball, hit my shot, and I’m walking again.
Jeremy 32:43
Yeah, it’s walking is a pace when you’re walking is superior for sure. Golf loves.
Matt 32:48
And you get to free your moving, get to spend time with nature. What if you do it?
Dan 32:55
What if you do the individual carts? Like some courses are starting to do now. Well, there’s one person carts, everybody drives through their balls. Yeah, I’ve seen that a couple times.
Matt 33:04
I’d be curious if it shows up as a faster.
Dan 33:08
Yeah, I doubt it. Yeah, I doubt it. Because if you suck and you have no self-awareness, you’re not gonna still you’re still not gonna get it. But the idea of getting to your ball first without having to go to this person’s ball over here that you’re riding with, and then you would think it would be way faster. Yeah, you would think it would be faster, but again, probably just more fuckery going on than anything.
Matt 33:25
I I know walking can uh a four-ball walking can lap a four-ball in carts. I mean, it’s it’s that’s that’s proof.
Joe 33:35
I think I think with the solo car, I think one of the things that you miss out on is the like connectivity that golf is you know, like the community aspect of golf. Like when you’re walking, you all walk down the fairway and you’re talking and talking, and then you go, Hey, I’m gonna I’m over here, you’re over here, and then you come back, and like single carts, you’re just split, and I think you lose some of the aspect of the best parts of the game, get lost in single cart. So, walking, you still get some of it, and you split, you come back.
Dan 34:05
Like, that’s why walking’s better than the single game or the single cart, but yeah, sometimes you’re just kind of forced to walk, like with those courses that charge you like fifty to eighty dollars for a cart fee. Yeah, true. Like, fuck that, California already paid six hundred dollars to play here.
Are Cart Fees Coming to Las Vegas?
Matt 34:22
That’s the next thing that’s coming to Vegas. They’re they’re gonna because I know in Arizona they’re having water usage fees that they’re adding on to tea time. Wow, and I’m gonna I see that coming here, and I see cart fees coming here. There, I mean, it’s just a matter of time. It’s it’s so I’m shocked that we don’t have cart fees here, considering how many other places do.
Joe 34:44
It’s unfair though, because you have to walk here. Or no, you have to ride a cart here.
Matt 34:50
Yeah, you can’t walk. I mean, there’s only a few courses here.
Jeremy 34:53
You could there’s only yeah, yeah, it’s unfair. So you think that they’re just gonna add it as a line item, it’s required, but it’s gonna be a separate fee.
Matt 35:01
Yeah, oh yeah, I think they’re gonna that’s crazy 25 bucks.
Joe 35:04
Well, it’s it’s it’s nickel and diming, it’s nickel and diming. Everybody wants pieces, you know.
Dan 35:09
Yeah, locals are gonna be $300 to play golf the next thing you know.
Joe 35:14
Yeah, it’s it’s crazy, it’s crazy. Yeah, and then everybody’s gonna everybody’s gonna be in the Sims, man. Yeah, they better watch themselves, man. Everybody’s gonna be in the Sims.
Dan 35:24
Sim golf’s gonna explode.
Joe 35:26
And everybody wants to grow the game and keep golf alive. And hey, let’s just charge you out the arm and the leg for let’s just price everybody
LIV Golf Files Chapter 11
Joe 35:34
out.
Matt 35:34
Oh, Greenley, Nevada opened six hour rounds. I walked and still waited every shot. Brutal. Oh yeah, fuck that. Yep, yep, yep. Uh, so this news just dropped here recently. Uh, live golf actually filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Joe 35:49
Knew it, saw it coming.
Matt 35:50
Yep. In New Jersey on Tuesday, it’s a part of proposed restructuring and involvement private equity firm BC Partners. The plan is designed to keep Live alive for 27 and potentially shift majority ownership to the players. Court violence reportedly lift stars John Rom, Bryson D. Chambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Cameron Smith as unsecured creditors owed millions. So what what’s it gonna what’s live what’s live 2.0 gonna look like?
Dan 36:20
Nothing. Nothing. They just see the statement they released before the chapter 11 thing. They’re saying like they’re they’re looking to like re-image, but they’re still gonna keep the team aspect, but they don’t know what they’re gonna do.
SPEAKER_00 36:31
They pretty much said we’re gonna scrap everything.
Dan 36:33
Yeah, we we don’t know what we’re gonna do, but stay tuned because we don’t know what we’re gonna do.
SPEAKER_00 36:37
Yeah, like what the fuck? Like that that leg is broke, take it out back. Take it out back. Hi, Quinn.
Joe 36:46
What’s up, Quinn? Say what’s up, y’all. Oh okay, here we go.
Matt 36:53
Yeah, what she said, Liv.
Joe 36:57
You suck, I think she said.
Matt 36:59
You suck. Oh, that’s funny. Hey, are we gonna give anything away tonight? That that last week has been pretty good. Kyle was pretty happy. Got some nice swag. Oh, I’ve added a bunch of new stuff to the website, too. Bunch of new stuff to the website. So uh go check out the store and you can see what’s going on there. I mean, we got uh 17 people in the giveaway right now.
Joe 37:22
What do you want to do? What do you want to do? What do we do? Um, I did for the giveaway that Coach Porch one. I did I did put that in his box on my Friday show, so that’s in there. He did buy for me last night. I did not add that hat in last night. I still got 34 packages to go, but um, I don’t know what do you want to what do you want to do? What do you want whether we’re gonna lose it?
Matt 37:44
We’ll do one of these again.
Joe 37:46
You’re gonna do a Chase the Daylight podcast grip.
Matt 37:48
We’ll do a CDP grip tonight. Holy moly, we’ll see if if Kyle Shane doesn’t win.
Joe 37:54
I know, dude.
Matt 37:55
Shane always gonna be decked out in CDP, everything he wins, wins all the time. Yeah, so uh Joe, tell people how to get in the giveaway. It’s easy.
Joe 38:03
Uh, all you gotta do is leave a comment like a palmetto golf company. Uh you can read that. But all you gotta do is leave a comment, be here when we pull it. Uh at the end of the show, no time frame. We just pull it at the end of this show. Leave a comment, uh, be here when we pull it. Uh, and always, shout out Garson. Um, you can use code daylight15 at checkout. Save yourself 15 at Garsengolf.com. Shout out Garson. But that is the one a one of 50 Chasing Daylight Podcast grip that we’re gonna give away this evening to y’all. Matt 38:43
Green Lane Matt’s gonna sign it. Chasing Daylight Podcast.com, and then there’s a store button. Click on that store button, and you can shop your little heart’s content all kinds of CDP gear. All kinds, all kinds, yeah, all kinds. What was it, Paul Meadow say? Are y’all a fan of hit provisional or drop and hit four? Amateurs, not pros. I mean, if you’re playing for money, provisional, absolutely.
Jeremy 39:11
Um, if you’re we did both in VGN and uh diamonds, do it’s provisional and then broken distance for the others, which I think seemed to clear up a lot of issues.
Matt 39:23
It helped a little bit. We still have some issues, but not as many.
Joe 39:28
Yeah, I mean, if you know it’s out, if you know it’s out, you gotta hit another one. If you know it’s way out there, then hit another one.
Matt 39:34
Yeah, yeah. What kills me is the the people that take advantage of the stroke and distance and airmail it over the houses into the second row of houses, and then they go up you know 200 yards and drop it on the edge of the fairway. Oh, stroke and distance. It’s like what what distance are you looking at?
Joe 39:52
You were in, uh Randy, you’re in by posting a comment. You’re into the Gibby if you post a comment. All you gotta do is be here when we pull it. Unless you’re unless you’re a premium subscriber. You see those S’s on those names, they don’t have to be here live. But if you don’t have that that that S circle S similar to circle T, it’s a circle S on us tubes. Circle T you gotta be here, you gotta be here live. And just post a comment. Simple boys.
SPEAKER_01 40:27
It’s it’s simple boys.
Joe 40:30
I think I already sent it, Randy, but maybe here.
The New Chasing Daylight Logo & Merch
Matt 40:33
We’ll do here. I’ll share it this way. Yeah, what is what’s everybody’s thoughts on this logo? Came up with this, like it. Um putting that on our socials, so all of our social media pages have that logo on them now. Oh, we get another jewel, we get Lord’s welcome action going on here. Oh bubbles.
Joe 41:07
We got we got uh Palmetto with a thumbs down.
Dan 41:11
Okay, we got um be honest with nope, thank you.
Joe 41:15
Yeah, honest, honesty.
Dan 41:16
Be honest, we’re all grown fucking people here.
Matt 41:21
Like I like meh. I like meh. All right, that means I like it. I like it. I think it looks good. You know what? It let me uh here. I’ll I’ll uh shout out chat. Do you have a picture of the other options? Uh let me bring this up. Maybe we can get a chat vote. Uh let’s see. So you can see what it looks like on some gear. Here, I did I sent this to the guys who can see it too. Had to do a Cordy for Joe. Cordy Boys. Cordy Boys. So it uh I like it. I like it. It’s gonna stick around for a little bit. Gonna stick around for a little bit. We’ll see how long. There’s we’ll see how long. I know. I’m I’m a sucker.
Joe 42:09
This guy changes the logo every week, guys.
Matt 42:10
Don’t get not every week, not every week.
Joe 42:12
Yeah, don’t don’t get too like too logo. Every season change. Every season, it’s gonna change. Yeah, so uh Jay Toddy in the house. Let’s go.
Matt 42:24
We have some stuff on the website that has that on there. We’ve got the uh written out logo on there on some things, on some hats, on some Q zips, on some long sleeve shirts, on some hoodies. Um, the one in the hooded long sleeve is slick.
Joe 42:40
Yeah, yep, the but he’s very sick.
Matt 42:42
Looks good on the flatty. Yeah, see?
Joe 42:44
See flatty boys.
Matt 42:46
Eric, Eric loves the flatty. Eric loves the flatty. Need to change the yellow and black colorway, honestly.
Joe 42:52
Hey, shout out Randy. Throwing the football with the girls outside and just listening.
Matt 42:58
Thank you, sir. Much appreciate that. Don’t don’t like the uh oops, don’t want to do that. Don’t like the uh yellow and black, huh?
Joe 43:08
Huh?
Matt 43:09
Why is that? Pittsburgh Steelers reminder, Pittsburgh Pirates reminders, Missouri football reminders, what is it? Penguins. Not a fan of the yellow, but the black looks clean. Okay, alright. I got the I got the same uh thing in the black. See what it looks like. I don’t think it looks too terrible.
Joe 43:34
Rebel.
Matt 43:40
Yeah. Yeah, maybe. See, pick their color. Yeah, I can see if we can do that.
Joe 43:45
No, I think it I think it’s I think it’s something we haven’t had before. Like if you remember the old CDP one, it was kind of whack. Remember the old CDP circle logo? Sure, it was pretty whack. I mean, this kind of flows a little bit. Bit better. You know what I mean? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Dan 44:05
Right on, Tyler. Thanks for your honesty, brother.
Joe 44:07
Uh yeah, absolutely. We you know what is it? All feedback. All welcome.
Matt 44:14
It’s all welcome. We take it all in.
Dan 44:19
Let’s see if I have Quinn says she don’t like the yellow either.
Matt 44:22
I don’t blame her. What are you doing?
Joe 44:24
Guys, I’m on the podcast right now.
Matt 44:27
After the show. I thought I had to say hi if you want.
Dan 44:31
They’re ganging up on you, guys.
Joe 44:34
This guy’s not talking to me currently. The podcast. You want to say hi real quick? Say hi real quick. Dan, Jeremy, and Matt.
Dan 44:43
Hi real quick. What’s up, Theo? I don’t know who you guys are.
Joe 44:50
There you go. Okay, Quinn, get out of here.
Matt 44:55
I think the the this is what a more important question we can ask. Um, do we need to put this on a t-shirt?
Joe 45:05
Quinn’s closing the door. That I mean Oh, Jesus. It’s like the strengths.
Jeremy 45:13
We need one of those in a hologram. So when you turn to the side, it’s like thrusting.
Matt 45:20
Oh man. What are these fuckers do like that?
Jeremy 45:28
So uh yeah, that’s I would proudly wear that on a polo right over the left chest area. Right here, just it’d be absolutely gorgeous.
Matt 45:39
The new the new uh uh Nautica logo, or what was Joe saying last week? Uh uh Tommy Hilfiger.
Jeremy 45:46
Yeah, hip thrust golf wear. Tommy Hilfucker.
Matt 45:53
Oh, we lose Joe. What happened to Joe? He’s gotta go deal with golf.
Dan 45:57
He got kidnapped by his kids. Yeah, hologram would rule. It would. It would. It needs someone like you said, Jeremy, those ones back in the day where you just adjust them when they like scratch scratchy. Yes.
Matt 46:12
Well, we have we have this one. This is the other one that’s pretty much all over the place right now. So there’s two main things. This is our main logo. We have that in the yellow background with the black lettering, and then we have this black with the yellow the white lettering, and then the this one. So that’s that’s mainly what you’re gonna be seeing is those those things. But this this one I think fits pretty well with us. A little golf ball in the sun, just something simple and nothing crazy. I tell you, the uh the drafting and and uh logo branding world out there is not cheap. It’s not cheap.
Joe 46:55
No, it’s not.
Matt 46:57
I mean, if like the people who do it professionally for a living that have clients that pay them, you reach out to those people and get a quote, and it’s like four grand. I’m like, yeah, we’re not that special, we’re not that special. So um, yeah. So you know what? We use resources that we have.
Joe 47:20
The the CDP, the new CDP one reminds me of the TES talk logo.
Matt 47:25
A little bit, yeah. Yeah, I saw that. That was the first thing I thought you were gonna complain about. Yeah, coach said on a flat brim where his feet are at the start of the hat, so he’s standing on the brim to fill the whole hat.
Dan 47:42
I can’t believe we got uh we got that sticker at Landman too. Yeah, oh yeah, that’s it’s crazy right on the starter shack.
Joe 47:49
I can’t believe that I can’t believe that sticker stayed for a year.
Matt 47:53
Yeah, yeah, and even the one on the back of the sign that’s on like crazy.
Dan 47:57
Yeah, I’m saying, but you guys have stickers all over the all over the place still, too. Yeah, like you have CDP and hitting green stickers all over courses in Vegas.
Joe 48:06
That’s true. That wild horse one lasted a long time, long time.
Matt 48:15
Yeah, that print valley one, the hidden greens one out there was there forever.
Joe 48:20
Slap your slap those stickers all over the world, yo. That’s it.
Dan 48:25
Yeah, hey, Jeremy.
Jeremy 48:26
Did any anybody find your sticker out at Red Rock? I don’t know. I don’t think so. I need to go out there and see if it’s there still. I’ll be covered up. There’s one in San Francisco, too. Nice.
Matt 48:37
Where did you put one at Arroyo or Red Rock?
Jeremy 48:40
Red Rock Park, yeah. State Park on one of those like binocular things.
Matt 48:47
Oh, you put it on that? There’s a DGP sticker out there. Nice.
Joe 48:50
There was there was a hitting greens sticker I slapped downtown on Fremont. I think we’re gonna be down there this weekend because uh her uncle’s coming in town, but she filmed me and I fucking jumped and slapped it somewhere. I gotta I gotta check that out.
Matt 49:04
See if it’s still there. Yeah, we were down at the art district the other night and uh went to Holstein’s, which is right now.
Joe 49:10
You yeah, the yeah pass it past north again.
Matt 49:15
Dude, I think north of Tropics and like hit a message and I’m like, because she’s she says, Hey, we’re gonna go to Holstings, it’s downtown. And like my mindset, downtown is Fremont Street. That’s that’s downtown. The art district isn’t really downtown. No, so uh she says, Hey, uh, we’re gonna go to Holsteins, it’s downtown. And I’m like, Do you think maybe we could pick somewhere that’s not downtown on one of the busiest weekends in Vegas?
SPEAKER_01 49:44
Maybe, yeah, maybe.
Matt 49:46
But they said they wanted to go, so but uh it’s they they did a good job with that spot. It’s it’s that area is getting a lot better.
Joe 49:54
It’s nice, yeah. The main street area is sick.
Matt 49:56
It’s getting a lot better. It sucks that huddle closed down, but Abel Baker’s still there, and there’s some good uh other breweries, and the there’s a pizza joint right next to Holstings. That my god, I wanted to go in there and just devour it. Smells so good.
Joe 50:10
So boys, boys.
Jeremy 50:14
I want to go to Esther’s kitchen.
Joe 50:15
Well, Esther’s Kitchen is fire, really good shit. We went to uh the my my mom had the kids Saturday night. We went over to South Point. Check out this Esther fucking busy, dude. There was a line at every fucking ATM, a line at every ATM, and nobody was cashing tickets in, they were taking money out. Shout out Michael. Who were you at Joe? Doing something right. South point.
Dan 50:39
Oh, South Point.
Joe 50:41
Michael Gone is something special.
Dan 50:44
It’s horses always busy. They got a bunch of back right now. Well, they got that, they got that rodeo um arena in the back there. Yeah, yeah. And then have you guys been to the bowling alley too? Where they have a national championship, too. That bowling alley, that’s where it is.
Jeremy 50:59
It’s there at South Point. Yeah, it’s called the escalation.
Dan 51:02
Yeah, it’s dope. They get bleachers set up in there and shit. It’s nuts.
Joe 51:04
Yeah, so South Point is dope. I like South Point. It reminds me like OG, like Gold Coast shit, you know.
Matt 51:10
Very much when you watch Gold Coast, it’s got an old Vegas vibe.
Dan 51:14
Yeah, that Don Vito’s Italian restaurant in there is not bad either. The steakhouse is a little overpriced, but it’s it’s pretty good. Yeah, good food.
Matt 51:24
But yeah, that whole Holstein’s got good food. And the burgers were I didn’t have a burger, I had a I had a steak salad, so but it was uh pretty damn good.
Dan 51:31
Oh, Tyler, you’re nice like that? Nationals?
Matt 51:34
Damn, bro. Oh my bowling career is long past.
Joe 51:41
Yeah. Bowling’s boring to me now. Golf’s better.
Matt 51:46
Golf’s better by hopefully. Trey bowls, Colby bowls. There’s a lot of people that we know that bowls.
Joe 51:54
A lot of crossover. A lot of people play pickleball, a lot of golfers play pickleball on bowling.
SPEAKER_00 51:59
Pickleball.
Joe 52:01
Uh, and everything is played on the same court except for golf. And golf is very fun. The others are eh. Not as exciting.
Matt 52:17
Uh
Walker Cup, Irish Open & Future Sites
Matt 52:18
let’s see. So we got the Solheim Cup coming up this week. Uh, the Walker Cup, Great Britain came back and beat the Americans down.
Jeremy 52:27
The highlight of that though is LaHynch. That place looks absolutely amazing.
Dan 52:31
Dude, La Hinch is unreal. It looked really, really good on TV.
Matt 52:36
The Irish Open is this week. Where is that at? What course are they playing there? Um let’s see. Oh, Trump. I wish I could be up there too at the end. Yeah. Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Dunbeg.
Dan 52:52
Oh, Dunbeg’s dope too. Yeah.
Matt 52:58
Rory is defending John Rom, Brooks Kepka, Shane Lowry, Robert McIntyre are all headliners.
Dan 53:04
Did you guys see the lineup that the Walker Cup is gonna have in the future? Yeah. Somebody put out an article. Let me see if I can find it real quick. I’ve I know I just brought it up ill-prepared. Let me see. The future sites are unplay unbelievable.
Joe 53:21
Oh, I did see that. I didn’t.
Dan 53:23
Well, last year.
Joe 53:25
When did they play Cypress?
Dan 53:27
So they got yeah. So in 2028, they’re going abandoned. 2030, uh Princess Golf Club in England, 2032, Oakmont, 2036, uh Chicago Golf Club, then uh National Golf Links of America, Pine Valley, Cypress Point. Jeez, Pine Valley, man. Yeah, but we’re talking like Pine Valley is not till 2044. Those kids aren’t born yet. I’ll be lucky to be alive then. Yeah, right.
Joe 53:54
Damn, Pine Valley, they’re gonna let them out of Pine Valley. That’s crazy, too, how far out in advance they’re like looking seminal in 2048.
Matt 54:02
Good grief.
Dan 54:06
Yeah, Bandon’s the next site for the Walker Cup.
Matt 54:08
Wow, that’s gonna be interesting.
Joe 54:11
Well, what did they play on at Bannon? What was that? A couple years ago, right?
Jeremy 54:16
USM USM USM 2020, whatever, 2021.
Matt 54:22
I don’t remember when it was, but it no back.
Dan 54:26
Bush I have a serious question about Ross Bridge. A few years back when they torched those fucking greens, did they fix them and are they back to what they were, or are they still kind of not quite the same?
Joe 54:38
The nematodes. And does that Chipotle that’s pretty close to them still fucking fill everything with liquid in the burritos?
Matt 54:48
There wasn’t the burrito that had that guy that poured the fertilizer or some shit on it. Mixed it with fertilizer.
Dan 54:56
Oh, you’ve never played there? You’re talking all the shit you’ve never played there? What man?
Matt 55:02
What a letdown. Yeah, he got on victory.
Jeremy 55:07
Yeah, he really played victory.
Matt 55:10
He was out there for four hours. Yeah, I saw that. Yeah, somebody finally pulled up and said, Let’s go, but they wouldn’t let him drive his car in. He had to be marked and come back.
Jeremy 55:21
That’s surprising. Like that’s my that’s my favorite course I played in Utah. Yeah, that place is crazy private.
Matt 55:29
Super private.
Jeremy 55:30
Yeah.
unknown 55:30
Yeah.
Jeremy 55:31
Like yeah, it’s like summer. You have to own land there.
Matt 55:34
Whoa.
Joe 55:35
Okay, yeah.
Jeremy 55:35
As far as I know. But yeah, that’s that’s a Jimmy Walker special.
Joe 55:40
Oh, your big Jimmy Walker guy.
Jeremy 55:42
Yeah, Jimmy Walker guy. That’s cool. He finally got on, though. That but that’s not the one I was expecting he would get on first. Promontory?
Joe 55:51
He’s gotta do promontory too, right?
Jeremy 55:53
Yeah, it’s right, it’s close by.
Matt 55:55
Boyd just sent us a message. I have no idea what it means if you guys can figure that out.
Dan 55:59
Is Tiger’s course open up there?
Matt 56:01
Oh, yeah.
Dan 56:02
I don’t know if it’s open.
Joe 56:04
I haven’t seen anything about that in a while.
Dan 56:06
It actually looks kind of sick. I mean, I don’t think it’s only fun. Like peaks, like it’s just the whole way. Yeah, it looks like it’s all on top of mountains.
unknown 56:15
Yep.
Jeremy 56:17
Jeremy, do you figure out where you’re playing?
Matt 56:19
Palm Springs?
Jeremy 56:20
Uh, not yet. I may just we’re literally staying at JW Marriott there. So I made his book Desert Springs, but like Dan said, uh Desert Willow across the street. I mean, maybe I’ll do that.
Matt 56:34
Good stuff. Dan played golf.
Joe 56:37
Yeah.
Matt 56:37
It’s you’ll have a good time there.
LIV Debts, Phil Mickelson & Tiger Talk
Joe 56:40
Is this true right here? Rick Shields is owed 1.4 million from Live. I don’t know. I wouldn’t doubt it. I don’t know. Yeah, I wouldn’t doubt it too. I mean, yeah, I mean, they owe a lot of money. I mean, like, we owe a lot early.
Matt 56:53
I wonder how much Faraday owed.
Joe 56:56
Yeah.
Matt 56:57
Phil is owed.
Joe 56:58
Phil.
Matt 57:00
That guy just cannot get back in the news. Like, nobody is talking about Phil Mickelson at all.
Joe 57:06
Phil, dude.
Matt 57:08
With all this stuff with Liv, all they talk about is Rom, DJ, Cameron Smith. They don’t talk any and Bryson. They didn’t Phil is just he’s in Valhalla.
Dan 57:18
Phil’s out.
Matt 57:19
He’s out. Yeah, he’s in Valhalla.
Dan 57:22
Valhalla.
Matt 57:24
Phil’s fucked.
Dan 57:25
He’s gone.
Matt 57:26
Oh, dude. I would love to see this kind of advice to get with him, you know, someone doing Phil.
Joe 57:31
Oh, Phil killed his legacy for sure. 100%. He’s he was a goat, and then he just fucked it all over.
Matt 57:40
Yeah. Yeah. You got more money though, so it doesn’t matter.
Joe 57:43
That’s yeah. I mean, that’s fine. That’s what you’re after, you know. If that’s what you want, more money. I mean, like, yeah, I think you could have it both ways in that in that situation. You can have both. Like, you probably could have as much money as you need and still be a goat and uh you know, hold a legacy, but now his legacy’s fucked.
SPEAKER_01 58:04
Like Mike, but about like Mike.
Jeremy 58:07
How about Tiger losing his license?
Joe 58:10
Yeah, true.
Jeremy 58:11
It needed to have five years.
Joe 58:12
That should have happened 15 years ago.
Dan 58:15
The world should be rejoicing. Should happen 15 years ago. You’d have 20 majors by now.
Joe 58:19
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01 58:20
I saw Jupiter is much safer now.
Dan 58:24
Yeah, exactly. So many years wasted trying to recover from accidents and stupid shit.
SPEAKER_01 58:30
Yeah.
Dan 58:31
We were robbed.
Jeremy 58:32
Right in the back of that Rolls-Royce tiger.
SPEAKER_01 58:34
Addiction robbed us of tiger. Charlie drive you around everywhere.
Joe 58:38
No way. Carl, is that true?
Matt 58:40
Can’t can’t even drive a golf cart, they were saying they say if golf courses some golf courses require a driver’s license to drive the golf carts.
Joe 58:48
Oh, okay.
Matt 58:50
But someone’s gonna stop Tiger from driving golf cart.
Dan 58:54
No champions tour for him.
Matt 58:57
Yeah, you gotta you can play tiger, but you gotta walk because you can’t drive.
Dan 59:01
You gotta walk this shit, bro. Your shit is revoked.
Matt 59:04
You can’t you can’t drive and you can’t walk. Can’t drive and you can’t and you can’t drive. So you know, maybe someone could handle lecture you around the course. Yeah, wow.
Dan 59:15
What about like one of those hover rounds?
Joe 59:18
Just put a little golf bag attachment on there, like the tiger just cruising around, little handheld thing. I mean, with AI, can he he can he own a Tesla that can self-drive?
SPEAKER_01 59:28
Maybe maybe good good point. Good point.
Joe 59:31
But I mean, I’ve I saw a video today where it’s like your your eyes have to be on the road to be able to drive. So, like a guy put like a head right under the the camera where it looked like you were looking at he’s got more than enough money to have a driver for the rest of his life.
Dan 59:44
That’s true.
Joe 59:45
Yeah, of course, of course.
Matt 59:50
Yeah, yeah.
Joe 59:52
Which you should have done a long time ago.
Matt 59:54
You’re gonna have this driver, and he’s gonna be like, How come nobody told me about this? This is great. Yeah, Dan.
Jeremy 1:00:00
If Tiger came and played Coyote Springs or somewhere with you, would you drive the cart that day? Um, yeah, or would you ride with someone else?
Dan 1:00:08
I would I would drive the cart, I would drive the cart and I’d whoop his ass on that golf course. Okay.
Jeremy 1:00:13
I know we tried we tried you driving one time and we switched like three holes in.
Dan 1:00:18
Yeah, it’s just it didn’t feel right. We did, we did because I kept going, I kept going to the passenger side, and Jeremy kept trying to go to the driver’s side. So I said, Fuck it, just switch bags. It’s just natural. You want to drive, I want to ride. Yeah, I’m a passenger princess for sure, bro. Yep. Oh, that’s hilarious.
VGN Major & The Rising Cost of Golf
Matt 1:00:36
Hey, speaking of coyote, we got the the last VGN major, and it hasn’t sold out. I you know, the wind has left my sales with the VGN. It’s so disappointing. I I don’t know what’s going on, why people can’t just respond to emails and say I’m not playing. Um, but yeah, there’s still 11 spots left. Um, deadline is it’s Friday. We don’t get 11 players, we’re going out there with less than what we signed up with.
Joe 1:01:04
So um, so how many people are in it?
Matt 1:01:07
61. Yeah, 61. We got 11 spots left. But there’s 13 guys in the diamonds flight right now, so that’s that’s good. Ooh, got some players finally, not not six of you going after it. Um, yeah.
Joe 1:01:23
Do you think the course conditions of what’s been heard are turning people off to it?
Matt 1:01:27
I wouldn’t think so, but I don’t know what it is. I I mean, honestly, have no idea.
Jeremy 1:01:33
I think people are sad that it’s ending.
Joe 1:01:36
Checking out uh Tyler, it’s the 17th or the 19th.
Matt 1:01:40
The 19th, the 19th September 19th at the Saturday.
Dan 1:01:43
I think it could be just a mix of everything. Schools being back, you know. Yeah, people with families. Well, that too, but also, you know, golf’s gotten this is the most spot in in the last four years. Golf is expensive, that’s the thing.
Matt 1:01:58
So I think one of those things for the new golfers, I don’t think they realize how expensive it’s gotten because this is all they’ve known. Yeah, like us when we used to go play Pram for 30 bucks, you know, now playing Pram, you know, a dried out legacy for 40 is the closest thing that’s comparable. And if you want to play someplace nice, it’s you know 75-80 bucks.
unknown 1:02:22
Yeah.
Matt 1:02:23
On the cheap side, on the cheap side, that’s the cheap side, cheap brand.
Dan 1:02:27
Yeah, is Tuscany so expensive or Tuscany Chimera? Charging uh over $100 for locals.
Matt 1:02:35
Uh, I don’t know.
Dan 1:02:37
Uh I could have sworn I think it was Tracy that told me they were paying like $105 or something like that for locals rate, but after like nude, it went to like 40 or 50 bucks.
Matt 1:02:46
Yes, you can play.
Dan 1:02:50
That’s crazy. Yeah, that’s fucking nuts.
Joe 1:02:53
Yeah, single balls go for a hundred plus nowadays. Expensive sport, yeah.
Dan 1:02:58
No shit, especially on whatnot. That shit is wild.
Matt 1:03:03
The guys were winning like a set of Callaway Big Berthas that were like 20 years ago. Oh my goodness. Oh, I know. Take five shows Cleveland CBX wedge. It wasn’t even a good Cleveland wedge, it was a CBX wedge.
Dan 1:03:15
Dude, it killed me that guy getting the Cleveland high board for $280. That’s a $40 driver, bro. You just spent $280 on that shit. $300. That’s a $40, that’s really $20. You find that out of goodwill. Uh I was you know being generous, I think. Yeah. And that one guy had some kind of black and orange rescue. He paid like $270 for it, too. I don’t even know what that is. That looks like a bubble burner. It looked like a square strike with custom paint.
Joe 1:03:46
Oh no. Custom square strike.
Dan 1:03:49
Yeah, you know the square strike has those little grooves on the bottom of the club.
Joe 1:03:53
Yeah, just like that. They got it right here. Great pickup. Great pickup, though. Yeah, great pickup.
Dan 1:03:58
Great pickup. $8,000 on this top shelf here.
SPEAKER_01 1:04:01
Great pickup.
Dan 1:04:03
Dude, he made a lot of money. There’s a lot of money it deposited in that account tonight. Everything was over $200, pretty much. He sold like a hundred fucking things.
Joe 1:04:16
Yeah, man. Oh custom square strike is so sick. Yeah, I mean, if you haven’t listened to what the like some of the episodes we’ve had where it’s Scotty D, Rip Scotty D, legend. Yeah, Rip Scotty D. Yeah. Play Bannon with a with a square strike.
Matt 1:04:39
His hat blows off. He’s hitting knockdown square strikes on part threes at the preserve as the sun’s going down.
Dan 1:04:49
Did you see the green, too? Joe, I don’t know if you saw it or not, but did you see that guy that Tony Schuster caddy for that was just using driver and putter?
Joe 1:04:58
No, I didn’t see that.
Dan 1:05:00
I mean, he was hitting driver from like 160 and putting it on the green. Oh wow. I mean, he was getting up and down. They showed him getting up and down from wild spots, and the guy was just using a driver.
Jeremy 1:05:11
I saw Tony hit that putt from like 150 yards to like I saw that one.
Dan 1:05:16
I think I saw that one. Yeah, yeah, that shit was wild.
Jeremy 1:05:21
Boyd, yes, Gladstan Payson is great. You gotta play there.
Dan 1:05:27
He’s been getting robbed lately to his face. Man, a lot of people get robbed on whatnot. Yeah, yeah.
unknown 1:05:32
Yeah.
Dan 1:05:32
I guess. Buyers and consumers. Buyers, buyers and sellers.
Joe 1:05:36
I mean, fucking buyers getting robbed on hundred dollar fucking vice balls. I think the uh I think I think the season is over currently. I mean I think it’s almost over because a lot of the country can’t play or is coming up on the end of their season. So I think it’s gonna change real soon, you know, because it’s gonna be cold. Yeah. Um like
Whatnot Golf + Video Podcast Expansion
Matt 1:06:00
I’ve you know it’s like stock market bull run fucking you know bull run is over market time yeah it’s bear market coming up so everybody’s bought watch yourself yeah watch yourself uh and I think it I holes the guilt consumed it consumed him yeah but I think it’s one of those things though it’s like if you get in your head and you start thinking about it like I mean it’s all those it’s flow state a lot of it’s flow state if you don’t think about it then you’re not dude I had 107 feet of putts made and that was almost on four putts because I had I dropped two 30 footers uh for birdie’s and then a freaking oh no the first birdie was a tapping so I had uh uh a couple 30 footers one was for birdie one was for par and then I had I the pin was back on nine with the par five and I was up the front Vegas Course Conditions Recap
Matt 1:14:20
the Chase Daylight podcast website and you can help rate courses if you’ve played them and check conditions of local golf courses in Las Vegas there you go click on Vegas course conditions and uh right now I got all the courses that I know that are going through overseeding with their dates is up top and then uh courses that have been rated lately will be up at the top you see fresh there that’s a a more recent one recent is is further uh roads uh fresh one but they’re for overseeding and then if you actually click on the page if there’s more than one rating you can scroll through and see what the averages are and if anybody had anything to say or share. So uh it’s really simple. If you want to report the course you just click that and it’s got drop downs for the course the day you played time your rates the rates you know local tournament online rack rates so we can kind of know what’s happening then you can rate all the conditions um there’s any cart restrictions uh the traffic of the golf course then there’s these are maintenance issues which if any of these are clicked it will pop up it with that red um showing it as you know there’s some issues going on and then you can post pictures and comments if you want so it’s on the main page just click that Vegas golf course condition or Vegas course conditions and this is what you will see so it’s pretty cool.
