THREE HUNDRED EPISODES AND COUNTING
Three hundred episodes! It is a milestone we never thought we would hit when we first started the Chasing Daylight Podcast, and we could not have done it without the amazing listeners who have stuck with us. To celebrate this landmark achievement, we brought back one of our most requested topics: the definitive Las Vegas Golf Course Rankings. Whether you are a local trying to find the best weekend deal or an out-of-towner looking to book a bucket-list round, we broke down everything you need to know about the Vegas golf scene.
THE RATING METHODOLOGY
We didn’t just throw darts at a board. Our rankings are built on a strict 100-point scale. We assigned 70 points to the actual golf course, judging its design, playability, practice area, and overall conditions. The remaining 30 points gauge what we call “the extras”: the vibe of the facility, the quality of the pro shop, and crucially, the value for the price. Because let’s face it, paying premium rates for a subpar experience is a surefire way to ruin a weekend. We ranked these courses based on the rates we pay as locals, stripping away the promotional noise.
CONTROVERSIES AND THE BOTTOM TIER
As always, the rankings sparked plenty of debate among the hosts. Coming in at the bottom of the barrel was the Las Vegas Golf Center, followed closely by the North Las Vegas Par 3. We also saw spirited discussions about mid-tier stalwarts. There were differing opinions on courses like Wildhorse and Sienna—with debates raging over whether a budget-friendly layout with a dedicated local following outshines a pricier round with less consistent greens. We also tackled the great private vs. public debate: Is a massive initiation fee worth the immaculate conditions and exclusivity of a country club, or does public desert golf offer all the escape you need?
THE CROWN JEWELS OF VEGAS GOLF
When it came to the top ten, the heavy hitters did not disappoint. We highlighted the incredible, high-end hospitality at Summit—where pristine conditions and luxury amenities make you feel like royalty. The Paiute courses, specifically Snow and Sun, held extremely strong in our top five, proving that reliable, top-tier conditions in the desert are always a winning formula.
But the true battle for the crown came down to the elite tier. Shadow Creek, an absolute Fazio masterpiece that transports you out of the desert and into a lush wonderland, fought hard for the top spot. However, coming out victorious at number one was Southern Highlands. Between its breathtaking par threes, dramatic elevation changes, and unmatched practice facilities, Southern Highlands secured its spot as the reigning champion of Vegas golf.
